Aims : To characterize dietary sweet and fat exposures in infancy and to study their links with sweet taste and fat sensation liking in school-aged children. A GRASP algorithm for the container stowage slot planning problem

This work presents a generalization of the Slot Planning Problem which raises when the liner shipping industry needs to plan the placement of containers within a vessel (stowage planning). State-of-the-art stowage planning relies on a heuristic decomposition where containers are first distributed in clusters along the vessel. For each of those clusters a specific position for each container must be found. Biogas production from boreal herbaceous grasses – Specific methane yield and methane yield per hectare

Abstract The objective of this study was to determine the specific methane yields of four grass species (cocksfoot, tall fescue, reed canary grass and timothy) cultivated under boreal conditions as well as how harvesting time and year of cultivation affects the specific methane yields per ha. The specific methane yields of all grasses and all harvests varied from 253 to 394 Nl CH4/kg volatile solids (VS) added. The average specific methane yield of the 1st harvest of all grasses was higher than the 2nd harvests. A phytosociological study on the Brachypodium rupestre grasslands in Sicily is presented. These grasslands form discontinuous secondary stands dynamically linked to the deciduous oak woods, which are widespread within the upper-colline, submontane and lower montane belts (800-1400 m) of the Tyrrhenian side of the northern Sicily and in the Sicani mountains. In the study area B. rupestre grasslands were mainly found in colluvial plains or drainage lines where relatively deep and mesic soils occur. Low-Prandtl Number Natural Convection in Volumetrically Heated Rectangular Enclosures - III. Shallow Cavity, AR=0.25

Abstract Natural convection in a volumetrically heated rectangular enclosure filled with a low-Prandtl number (Pr=0.0321) fluid was studied by direct numerical two-dimensional simulation. The enclosure had isothermal side walls and adiabatic top/bottom walls. The aspect ratio was 4 and the Grashof number Gr, based on conductive maximum temperature and cavity width, ranged from 3.79 × 104 to 1.26 × 109. [EN]: Olive and sunflower oils were heated at 180 °C for 5, 10 and 15 hours with the aim of defining the changes in the contents of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) and triacylglycerols (TAG) under frying conditions. Differences between apparent and real loss of FAME or TAG are defined for an adequate interpretation of the changes taking place at high temperature. Such differences depend on the expression of the results and frequently result in erroneous conclusions.
