Epistemic uses of the pretérito pluscuamperfecto in La Paz Spanish

This paper explores epistemic-evidential uses of the pluperfect, i.e. pretérito pluscuamperfecto, in La Paz Spanish. The pretérito pluscuamperfecto displays functions of a reported evidential form, conforming to results from previous studies on Argentinian Spanish (Bermúdez 2008; Speranza 2014) and, furthermore, is used according to a previously unnoticed inferential evidential function. Using theoretical frameworks from Kockelman (1957) and Bergqvist (2018), this paper describes the configuration of participant roles and event types implied in the different evidential functions of the pretérito pluscuamperfecto.
Sociolinguistic variation of mitigating mechanisms: usage differences according to age and sex

El presente artículo estudia la variación sociolingüística del fenómeno pragmático de la mitigación en las variables sociales de edad y sexo en el corpus PRESEEA-Valencia. En concreto, se centra en las diferencias cuantitativas y cualitativas en el empleo de mecanismos lingüísticos mitigadores y en las funciones de mitigación. Se analiza todo el sociolecto alto (Gómez Molina et alii 2001), que corresponde a 24 entrevistas semiformales (720 minutos), distribuidas proporcionalmente en tres grupos de edad (20-34 años; 35-55 años; 55 años en adelante) y en dos sexos (mujeres y hombres).El total de actos de habla mitigados en el corpus es de 960 y el número de mecanismos mitigadores es de 1838. …

Because many of these guidelines have also been suggested for evaluating what good or rigorous research is, they may be used as a checklist in the review process. In this paper, we raise the question: To what extent do research guidelines for interpretive, mixed methods, and design science research offer evidence that they can be used to evaluate the quality of research. Maģistra darbā pētīts terminoloģijas lietojums mobilo iekārtu lietošanas instrukcijās. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt vienotas terminoloģijas pieejamību tehniskās nozares terminoloģijai, kura izmantota mobilo iekārtu lietošanas pamācībās. Pētījumā izmantotās metodes ir teorētisko materiālu (grāmatu un publikāciju) apskats un izmantotās terminoloģijas un tās tulkojumu analīze. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka lielākajai daļai no atlasītajiem terminiem nav pieejams vienots tulkojums, vai termins darināts latviešu valodā, kas secīgi noved pie situācijas, kurā tulkotājs kļūst par valodnieku, kuram jādarina terminoloģiskās frāzes.

In what may be the first reference book on computer-mediated communication (also known as CMC), American linguist Susan C. La investigación tuvo como objetivo poner a disposición de los centros residenciales un conjunto de herramientas validadas para la medida de la calidad de vida de personas mayores con dependencia, tanto con como sin deterioro cognitivo grave, que fueran ágiles y sirvieran para orientar el diseño de intervenciones y guiar la implantación de modelos de atención centrados en la calidad de vida de las personas.
