Certain English quantificational expressions feature what appears to be an indefinite article, e.g. 'a bunch, a few, a hundred'. These can be divided into three types of quantifying expressions: pseudopartitives ('a lot, a bunch, a ton'), article-requiring quantifiers ('a few, a couple, a hundred'), and article-free quantifiers ('three, many, several'); article-free quantifiers have an article under certain circumstances, e.g. modification by an adjective ('a surprising 30 …'). Tre frasi con un comune nucleo semantico, una autenticamente transitiva, una a verbo supporto e una pseudoscissa, vengono messe a confronto per rendere conto di analogie riguardanti il verbo fare e la marca di caso di uno dei sintagmi. Le parziali formalizzazioni fornite indicano che le analogie hanno ragioni strutturali.

Sound symbolism refers to a non-arbitrary relationship between the sound of a word and its meaning. With the aim to better investigate this relationship by using natural languages, in the present cross-linguistic study 215 Italian and Polish participants were asked to listen to words pronounced in 4 unknown non-indo-European languages (Finnish, Japanese, Swahili, Tamil) and to try to guess the correct meaning of each word, by choosing among 3 alternatives visualized on a computer screen. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether parental daily distress in terms of negative emotions is associated with the daily variation in parental use of psychological control with their children. Whether parental positive emotions play a role in the use of psychological control was also investigated. The participants were 149 Finnish families with a child between the ages of 6 and 7 years.
