Language ideologies in the Romanian Banat : analysis of interviews and academic writings among the Hungarians and Germans

This is an introduction to a compilation of six articles on language ideologies in the Romanian Banat. My dissertation was initiated by fieldwork in the area, resulting to a database of interviews among the Hungarian and German inhabitants. This data is compared to intellectual writings. With regards to researcher position, I identify myself as a traveler in the area and as a foreign scholar. Signs in public space reflect ‘normalcy’ in a community. The authors ask what restricting signs tell us about a society? In order to explore the system and variation in the ways dog signs manifest different norms and control, they compare two different data sets: dog signs in a Northern European town, Jyväskylä in Finland, and two Eastern European villages in Romania. They apply a qualitative methodology based on visual communication, geosemiotics and linguistic landscape studies. Analytical results for 2-D non-rectilinear waveguides based on a Green's function

We consider the problem of wave propagation for a 2-D rectilinear optical waveguide which presents some perturbation. We construct a mathematical framework to study such a problem and prove the existence of a solution for the case of small imperfections. Our results are based on the knowledge of a Green's function for the rectilinear case.

A very flexible and efficient computer-aided design (CAD) tool, specifically suited for advanced comb-line rectangular waveguide filters, is presented in this work. The developed software tool, which makes use of a full-wave analysis technique based on the Boundary Integral - Resonant Mode Expansion method, permits to load the considered comb-line resonators with any number of radially symmetrical partial-height metallic posts. Dziewiętnastowieczne górnośląskie protokoły sądu rozjemczego jako podstawa badań językowych

Artykuł dowodzi, że w warunkach obcej państwowości ukształtował się w XIX stuleciu na Śląsku polski protokół sądowy jako gatunek tekstu. Oparty był na wzorach niemieckich, wymaganych przez oficjalne czynniki administracyjne. Zawierał konstytutywne wyznaczniki gatunkowe protokołu. Świadczą o tym liczne protokoły polskie zapisane w księgach protokolarnych sądów rozjemczych powiatu strzeleckiego, przechowywane w Archiwum Państwowym w Opolu. Matkapuhelinten ja varsinkin internetin myötä kirjoitettu kieli on jo kohta noin pari vuosikymmentä ollut muutosvaiheessa – jotkut saattavat jopa miettiä, onko kirjoittaminen enää lainkaan tarpeellista ihmisten välisessä viestinnässä. Tässä kandidaatintutkielmassa keskitytään tarkastelemaan sanojen muodostumista sekä hymiöiden käyttöä synkronoidussa eli reaaliaikaisessa online - keskusteluhuoneessa DeviantART-sivustolla.
