Latviešu valodas apguve dabaszinību stundās bilingvālās izglītības modelī mazākumtautību sākumskolas 3. - 4. klasē
2017
Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Latviešu valodas apguve dabaszinību stundās bilingvālās izglītības modelī mazākumtautību sākumskolas 3.–4. klasē”, kuru izstrādājusi Nataļja Martjanova. Darba mērķis – teorētiski un praktiski izzināt latviešu valodas apguves iespējas dabaszinību stundās bilingvālās izglītības modelī mazākumtautību sākumskolas 3. un 4. klasē. Darba gaitā tika izvirzīti uzdevumi: analizēt pedagogu un psihologu teorētiskās atziņas par bilingvismu un bilingvālās izglītības būtību; teorētiski izzināt jaunākā skolas vecuma bērnu attīstības likumsakarības pētāmās problēmas skatījumā, latviešu valodas apguves nosacījumus bilingvālās izglītības modelī sākumskolā; teorētiski un prakstiski pēt…
Mašīntulkošanas korpusu tīrītāja rīka izstrāde
2015
Vārdu sastatījumi teikumā apraksta vārdu atbilstību ar to pašu teikumu iztulkotu citā valodā. Ja tie ir daudz attiecībā pret vārdu daudzumu, tad var pieņemt, ka teikumi ir atbilstīgi. Pazīmju analīzei tiek izmantots mašīnmācīšanās algoritms, kas spēj uzbūvēt laba/slikta teikuma raksturojošu pazīmju modeli. Paralēlu tekstu korpusi ir plaši pielietoti mašīntulkošanas sistēmu izveidē. Tādējādi darbā izvirzīta hipotēze, ka sastatījumos balstīta korpusa novērtēšana un tīrīšana palīdz atbrīvoties no neprecīziem tulkojumiem …
Relative age and perceptions of soccer specific skills among elite youth players in Norway
2019
One common feature among the selected players in talent development programs are the well-known relative age effect (RAE), characterized by a skewed birth distribution among selected players with an over-representation of players born early in the selection year. The aim of the present study was to examine potential differences in soccer-specific skills between players selected for national talent program born in the first half of the year compared to the players born in the second half of the year. A total of 753 elite male U 14 (N = 363) and U 13 players (N = 390) from 16 of 18 soccer regions in Norway participated. The results showed players born early in the selection year considered th…
Sport participation and vigilance in children: Influence of different sport expertise
2018
PURPOSE: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between different types of sport expertise (externally-paced vs. self-paced sports) and vigilance performance in children by evaluating the cardiovascular fitness level of the participants. METHODS: Three groups of children (11.0 ± 0.2 years) differentiated in terms of their regular sport participation (football players, n = 20; track and field athletes, n = 20; non-athletic controls, n = 20) took part in the study. In one session, participants performed the Leger Multi-stage fitness test to estimate their aerobic fitness level. In another session, participants completed the Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT) to evaluate their v…
Structural Discrimination in Physical Education. The “Encounter” Between the (White) Norwegian Teaching Content in Physical Education Lessons and Fem…
2021
Background: Throughout society, including in the field of sports and physical education (PE), there are extensive debates on racism and structural racism. Researchers have found that students of color experience racial stereotyping and discrimination in PE. Studies also show that PE teaching practices reflect a masculine culture, emphasizing traditional (Western) competitive male sports and physical fitness practices, while marginalizing female students of color. Simultaneously these students also negotiate, resist, and operate as visible agents within these practices. While previous research has tended toward focusing on the experiences (of discrimination) from the perspective of students …
Individual Sprint Force-Velocity Profile Adaptations to In-Season Assisted and Resisted Velocity-Based Training in Professional Rugby
2020
We tested the hypothesis that the degree of adaptation to highly focused sprint training at opposite ends of the sprint Force-Velocity (FV) spectrum would be associated with initial sprint FV profile in rugby athletes. Training-induced changes in sprint FV profiles were computed before and after an eight-week in-season resisted or assisted sprint training protocol, including a three-week taper. Professional male rugby players (age: 18.9 ±
The role of physical activity and exercise in obesity and weight management: Time for critical appraisal
2016
The prevalence of overweight and obesity has increased dramatically during last 3 decades with devastating consequences to public health. Recommended strategies to reduce obesity have focused on healthier diet and physical activity (PA). Clearly, these approaches have not been successful, but whether this is due to failure to restrict energy intake or to maintain high levels of energy expenditure has been the subject of great controversy. Consequently, there has been a great deal of confusion about the role of PA and exercise in obesity and weight management. In this article, the theoretical basis for considering reduced PA and energy expenditure as the cause of obesity is appraised. Furthe…
Inspiratory muscle training combined with pursed lip technique in women with chronic osbtructive pulmonary disease: a case study.
2020
Objective. To improve pulmonary function, exercise capacity and quality of life of two women with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Material and Methods. Study of two clinical cases, both women. An intervention of 8 weeks was performed, in which the patients performed 3 weekly sessions, of which 1 was performed with supervision of the physiotherapist and 2 sessions were performed at home. The treatment sessions consisted of inspiratory muscle training with an inspiratory threshold and controlled breathing exercises with the pursed lip technique. Results. Quality of life of both women improved at the end of the study. In the woman with severe COPD, Maximal Inspiratory Pressure (M…
Diabetes Secondary to Acromegaly: Physiopathology, Clinical Features and Effects of Treatment.
2018
Acromegaly is a rare disease due to chronic GH excess and to the consequent increase in IGF-1 levels. Both GH and IGF-1 play a role in intermediate metabolism affecting glucose homeostasis. Indeed, chronic GH excess impairs insulin sensitivity, increases gluconeogenesis, reduces the glucose uptake in adipose tissue and muscle and alters pancreatic β cells function. As a consequence, glucose metabolism alterations are a very frequent complication in acromegaly patients, further contributing to the increased cardiovascular risk and mortality. Treatment modalities of acromegaly differently impact on glucose tolerance. Successful surgical treatment of acromegaly ameliorates glucose metabolism a…
