Taxonomic clarification of three taxa of Iberian geomitrids, Helix montserratensis Hidalgo, 1870 and subspecies (Gastropoda, Pulmonata), based on mor…

2017

Contribution to the knowledge of the terrestrial slugs (gastropoda, pulmonata) of the Maghreb

2017

As a result of recent malacological campaigns of our team in Algeria and Morocco, some previous samples, and after reviewing the literature, specially the recent papers about the Tunisian slugs, we produce a list of slugs of the Maghreb (Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia), with comments or discussion on each of the 17 species that form this list. We report for the first time Deroceras laeve (O.F. Müller, 1774) and Testacella haliotidea Draparnaud, 1801 in North Africa, although with reservations regarding the latter. We also report Lehmannia nyctelia (Bourguignat, 1861) for the first time in Morocco, concretely in the Chafarinas Islands, of Spanish sovereignty

Intermediate hosts of Angiostrongylus cantonensis in Tenerife, Spain.

2015

The nematode Angiostrongylus cantonensis is the causative agent of human angiostrongy- liasis, the main clinical manifestation of which is eosinophilic meningitis. Although this para- site has been found recently in its definitive rat host in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain), showing a widespread distribution over the north-east part of the island, there are no avail- able data regarding which snail and/or slug species are acting as intermediate hosts on this island. Consequently, the objective of this work was to determine the possible role of three mollusc species, Plutonia lamarckii , Cornu aspersum and Theba pisana , as intermediate hosts of A . cantonensis in Tenerife. Between 2011 and…

Molecular phylogeny of the genus Chondrina (Gastropoda, Panpulmonata, Chondrinidae) in the Iberian Peninsula

2022

[EN] Chondrina Reichenbach, 1828 is a highly diverse genus of terrestrial molluscs currently including 44 species with about 28 subspecific taxa. It is distributed through North Africa, central and southern Europe, from Portugal in the West to the Caucasus and Asia Minor in the East. Approximately 70% of the species are endemic to the Iberian Peninsula constituting its main center of speciation with 34 species. This genus includes many micro endemic taxa, some of them not yet described, confined to limestone habitats (being strictly rock-dwelling species). They are distributed on rocky outcrops up to 2000 m.a.s.l. It is a genus of conical-fusiform snails that differ mainly in shell characte…

Hallazgo de una población de Quickella arenaria (Potiez & Michaud, 1835) (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Succineidae) en Castilla-La Mancha (España)

2017
