MRI-visible nanoparticles from hydrophobic gadolinium poly(ε-caprolactone) conjugates
2015
International audience; In this work we report on the synthesis of two hydrophobic and degradable gadolinium poly(ε-caprolactone) conjugates and their use for the preparation of MRI-visible nanoparticles intended for diagnosis applications. Advantage has been taken from functional poly(ε-caprolactone)s (PCL) bearing propargyl (PCL-yne) or amine groups (P(CL-co-NH2VL)) to yield conjugates by following two strategies. In a first approach, an azido-chelate of gadolinium (Gd(III)) has been conjugated by CuAAC to PCL-yne to yield a polymeric chelate containing 2.6 wt% of Gd(III). In a second approach, a dianhydride Gd(III)-ligand was reacted with P(CL-co-NH2VL) to yield, after complexation with …
Kondrat'eva ligation: Diels-Alder-based irreversible reaction for bioconjugation.
2014
International audience; Diversification of existing chemoselective ligations is required to efficiently access complex and well-defined biomolecular assemblies with unique and valuable properties. The development and bioconjugation applications of a novel Diels-Alder-based irreversible site-specific ligation are reported. The strategy is based on a Kondrat'eva cycloaddition between bioinert and readily functionalizable 5-alkoxyoxazoles and maleimides that readily react together under mild and easily tunable reaction conditions to afford a fully stable pyridine scaffold. The potential of this novel bioconjugation is demonstrated through the preparation of fluorescent conjugates of biomolecul…
Know Beyond Seeing: Combining Computer Vision with Semantic Reasoning
2018
International audience; To date, computer vision systems are limited to extract the digital data of what the cameras "see". However, the meaning of what they observe could be greatly enhanced by considering the environment and common-sense knowledge. A new approach to combine computer vision with semantic modeling has been developed. This approach extracts the knowledge from images and uses it to perform real-time reasoning according to the contextual information, events of interest and logic rules. The reasoning with image knowledge allows protecting the privacy of the users, to overcome some problems of computer vision such as occlusion and missed detections and to offer services such as …
Embedded multi-spectral image processing for real-time medical application
2016
International audience; The newly introduced Kubelka-Munk Genetic Algorithm (KMGA) is a promising technique for the assessment of skin lesions from multi-spectral images. Using five skin parameter maps such as concentration or epidermis/dermis thickness, this method combines the Kubelka-Munk Light-Tissue interaction model and Genetic Algorithm optimization process to produce a quantitative measure of cutaneous tissue. Up to the present, variant improved KMGA implementations have been successfully realized using the recent parallel computing techniques. However, all these achievements are based on the multi-core CPUs. This results in a quite high cost and low practicability for the hardware …
City gates of Augustodunum and their architectural models (Gaul, Italy, Western Provinces of the Roman Empire)
2013
Augustodunum, civitas Aeduorum, roman city founded under the reign of Augustus, was equipped with four roman city gates : the gate of Arroux and the gate of Saint André, both well preserved, the gate of Saint Andoche which sole remaining part is a flanking tower, and the gate of Rome, destroyed long ago.The heart of this study lies in the stratigraphic reading of those gates structure and in thoughts about the building site of Autun’s city gates operating process. Moreover, since the 16th century, antiquaries, travelers and artists have described in many ways their visits to the roman city gates of Autun. These accounts constitute a major documentary collection of written and iconographical…
Fast and Robust Face Detection on a Parallel Optimized Architecture implemented on FPGA
2009
In this paper, we present a parallel architecture for fast and robust face detection implemented on FPGA hardware. We propose the first implementation that meets both real-time requirements in an embedded context and face detection robustness within complex backgrounds. The chosen face detection method is the Convolutional Face Finder (CFF) algorithm, which consists of a pipeline of convolution and subsampling operations, followed by a multilayer perceptron. We present the design methodology of our face detection processor element (PE). This methodology was followed in order to optimize our implementation in terms of memory usage and parallelization efficiency. We then built a parallel arch…

Atomic Transitions and Population Control by Laser Frequency Scanning Speed and Magnetic Field
2022
In this thesis the influence of laser radiation and external uniform magnetic field on alkali-metal atomic vapor is studied. We focused on three topics. In the first part, we examined atomic population control in an M-type system to demonstrate that such systems can serve as universal three-bit logical devices. The second part concerns an experiment of atomic spectroscopy. From the fluorescence spectra recorded for stationary, transient and non-stationary interaction regimes, we were able to extract important parameter values which are the relaxation rate of the lower energy levels to the equilibrium isotropic state, the diffusion coefficient in a buffered vapor cell, and the corresponding …
Optimal Robust Quantum Control by Inverse Geometric Optimization
2020
International audience; We develop an inverse geometric optimization technique that allows the derivation of optimal and robust exact solutions of low-dimension quantum control problems driven by external fields: we determine in the dynamical variable space optimal trajectories constrained to robust solutions by Euler-Lagrange optimization; the control fields are then derived from the obtained robust geodesics and the inverted dynamical equations. We apply this method, referred to as robust inverse optimization (RIO), to design optimal control fields producing a complete or half population transfer and a NOT quantum gate robust with respect to the pulse inhomogeneities. The method is versat…
The evolution of nitric oxide signalling diverges between the animal and the green lineages
2019
AbstractNitric oxide (NO) is a ubiquitous signalling molecule with widespread distribution in prokaryotes and eukaryotes where it is involved in countless physiological processes. While the mechanisms governing nitric oxide (NO) synthesis and signalling are well established in animals, the situation is less clear in the green lineage. Recent investigations have shown that NO synthase, the major enzymatic source for NO in animals, is absent in land plants but present in a limited number of algae. The first detailed analysis highlighted that these new NO synthases are functional but display specific structural features and probably original catalytic activities. Completing this picture, analy…
