Random Structural Modification of a Low-Band-Gap BODIPY-Based Polymer
2017
International audience; A BODIPY thiophene polymer modified by extending conjugation of the BODIPY chromophore is reported. This modification induces tunability of energy levels and therefore absorption wavelengths in order to target lower energies.
Logic gates using nanofluidic diodes based on conical nanopores functionalized with polyprotic acid chains.
2009
Single-track conical nanopores functionalized with polyprotic acid chains have pH-sensitive fixed charge groups and show three levels of conductance that allow integrating several functions on a single nanofluidic diode. Nanometer-scaled pores have previously been employed in separation and sensing but not in logic devices, despite the fact that biological ion channels with pH-dependent fixed charges are known to be responsible for information processing in biophysical structures. As a preliminary application, we propose a logic gate scheme where binary and multivalued logical functions are implemented.
Red-Light-Controlled Release of Drug-Ru Complex Conjugates from Metallopolymer Micelles for Phototherapy in Hypoxic Tumor Environments
2018
Traditional photodynamic phototherapy is not efficient for anticancer treatment because solid tumors have a hypoxic microenvironment. The development of photoactivated chemotherapy based on photoresponsive polymers that can be activated by light in the “therapeutic window” would enable new approaches for basic research and allow for anticancer phototherapy in hypoxic conditions. This work synthesizes a novel Ru‐containing block copolymer for photoactivated chemotherapy in hypoxic tumor environment. The polymer has a hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) block and a hydrophobic Ru‐containing block, which contains red‐light‐cleavable (650–680 nm) drug–Ru complex conjugates. The block copolymer se…
CMOS-compatible field effect nanoscale gas-sensor: Operation and annealing models
2008
Complete modelling of electrically controlled nanoscale gas sensors with Poisson, Wolkenstein, Fokker-Planck and continuity is presented. Based on a plausible Drift explanation we developed suitable models for sensitivity control and operational modes. An onset for CMOS-complying annealing procedures is given.
Improvements in aggregate-paste interface by the hydration of steelmaking waste in concretes and mortars
2019
[EN] The objective of the experimental work is to study the mechanical properties in self-compacting concretes (SCC) in which part of the limestone aggregate has been replaced by granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) in different percentages ranging from 0% to 60%. The results show that at early ages the SCC with the largest content in slag tend to have lower compressive strengths due to the poor compacting of the aggregates, although in the long-term their strength increases due to the reactivity of the slag. In fact, at the age of 365 days, the mortars made with the substitution of 50% of cement by ground GBFS reach compressive strength similar to that of the mortar made with 100% of cemen…
Soluble IF-ReS2 nanoparticles by surface functionalization with terpyridine ligands.
2010
A major drawback in the application of layered chalcogenide nanoparticles/tubes is their inertness to chemical and biological modification and functionalization. Their potential use in composite materials might be greatly enhanced by improving the chalcogenide/matrix interface bonding. A novel modification strategy for layered chalcogenide nanoparticles based on the chalcophilic affinity of metals and the chelating terpyridine is reported. The terpyridine anchor group can be conjugated to fluorescent tags or hydrophilic/hydrophobic groups that confer solubility in various solvents to the otherwise insoluble chalcogenide nanoparticles. The functionalized particles are characterized using TEM…

Polymerizable Well-Defined Oligo(thiophene amide)s and their ROMP Block Copolymers
2009
We report the synthesis of conjugated thiophene amide oligomers that constitute a new class of chromophores with potential for optoelectronic applications. The synthesis of defined norbornene-substituted oligothiophene amides using conventional coupling chemistry is described. Their electronic properties depend on the degree of oligomerization as UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy demonstrate. A significant red shift in the spectra upon an increase in the oligomer length evidences conjugation of the thiophene rings via the amide linkages. ROMP of the norbornene-substituted oligomers gives homopolymers and block-copolymers with a solubilizing second block. The amphiphilic character of the …
Reduction of thermal damage in ultrathin gate oxides after intrinsic dielectric breakdown
2001
We have compared the thermal damage in ultrathin gate SiO2 layers of 5.6 and 3 nm thickness after intrinsic dielectric breakdown due to constant voltage Fowler-Nordheim stress. The power dissipated through the metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitor during the breakdown transient, measured with high time resolution, strongly decreases with oxide thickness. This is reflected in a noticeable reduction of the thermal damage found in the structure after breakdown. The effect can be explained as the consequence of the lower amount of defects present in the oxide at the breakdown instant and of the occurrence of a softer breakdown in the initial spot. The present data allow us to estimate the power t…
Mechanical behavior of a sandwich with corrugated GRP core: numerical modeling and experimental validation
2014
In this work the mechanical behaviour of a core reinforced composite sandwich structure is studied. The sandwich employs a Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) orthotropic material for both the two external skins and the inner core web. In particular, the core is designed in order to cooperate with the GRP skins in membrane and flexural properties by means of the addition of a corrugated laminate into the foam core. An analytical model has been developed to replace a unit cell of this structure with an orthotropic equivalent thick plate that reproduces the in plane and out of plane behaviour of the original geometry. Different validation procedures have been implemented to verify the quality of t…
