Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa selvitetään, miten maahanmuuttajamiehistä puhutaan seksuaalisen väkivallan tekijöinä internetkeskusteluissa vuonna 2015. Tarkastelun kohteena ovat selonteot, joilla tekoja selitetään, ongelmapuhe ja uhkakuvat, joita keskusteluissa nousee sekä ratkaisuehdotukset, joita tähän sosiaaliseen ongelmaan esitetään. Tutkimuksessamme tarkastelun kohteena ovat myös vasta-argumentit, joilla maahanmuuttajien tekemää seksuaalista väkivaltaa ja siitä tuotettua ongelmaa kiistetään. The Dynamic Relationship between Response Processes and Self-Regulation in Critical Thinking Assessments

Our aim was to explore higher education students’ response and self-regulatory processes plus the relationship between these, as evidenced in two types of performance-based critical thinking tasks included in the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+) International instrument. The data collection consisted of 20 cognitive laboratories. The data were analyzed using a qualitative approach. The tasks were found to trigger different response and self-regulatory processes. Overall, the performance task evoked more holistic processes than the selected-response questions, in which students’ processes were more question-oriented. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on saada ihmisten sosiaalisen maailman näkökulmasta tietoa siitä, kuinka erilaiset sosiaaliset ongelmat ja erityisesti syrjäytymisen käsite jäsentyvät ja luovat merkitystä ihmisten jokapäiväisessä elämässä. Tehtävänä työssä on tutkia työpajanuorten ryhmässä muodostamia sosiaalisten ongelmien jäsennyksiä sekä niiden oletetun jäsenyyden luomaa vastapuhetta ja torjuttujen jäsentelyjen funktioita. Tutkielman teoreettinen viitekehys muodostuu syrjäytymisen käsitteen avaamisesta nuorisotutkimuksellisesta sekä sosiaalisen konstruktionismin tiedonsosiologisen perinteen näkökulmista. Thioflavin-T doped silica nanoparticles by basic-catalyzed sol-gel synthesis

We developed a basic-catalyzed sol-gel procedure that allows to synthesize silica nanoparticles functionalized with Thioflavin-T (ThT). During the synthesis, the formation of the doped silica nanoparticles was monitored by absorbance spectra indicating that the catalyst does not cause the total hydroxylation of the dye. Fluorescence measurements carried out on the ThT doped silica nanoparticles proved the attachment of ThT on silica and Raman spectroscopy provided information about the dye structure.
Supercooled Water Confined in a Silica Xerogel: Temperature and Pressure Dependence of Boson Peak and of Mean Square Displacements

A silica xerogel can be obtained from an alcoxide precursor (TMOS, tetramethylortosilcate) via the sol-gel method: TMOS hydrolysis and subsequent polycondensation yields a solid, disordered, porous SiO2 matrix (average pore dimensions ~20Å). Inside the pores water is trapped and the hydration level h=gr[H2O]/gr[SiO2] can be easily controlled. The presence and temperature dependence of the boson peak (BP) in xerogel confined supercooled water was studied with inelastic neutron scattering (spectrometer IN6 at ILL, Grenoble) in xerogel samples having h=0.4 and h=0.2.
