Painotan seksuaalisuuden ja sukupuolisuuden konstruktiivista ja poliittista puolta essentialistisen ja biologisen ymmärryksen vastaisesti. We have pointed out that the history of the giraffe’s neck served as an example to explain the theoretical concepts of transformism, proposed by J.-B. Lamarck, and of Darwin’s natural selection. However, at that time it had not been substantiated by palaeontological data. Since then, the record has furnished a number of fossils which enable us to reconstruct the major trends in the evolution of the giraffides of Africa, Asia, and Europe [1,2, 3] (Fig. 16.1; Appendix 16.1).

Helminth Infection of the Loggerhead Sea Turtle Caretta caretta along the Coasts of Sicily and the North West Adriatic Sea

We provide new data on the presence of helminth parasites in 64 individual loggerhead sea turtles Caretta caretta stranded along the coasts of Sicily and the northwest Adriatic Sea between June 2014 and August 2016. The necropsy examination revealed 31 individuals (48.4%) positive for endoparasites, showing a greater prevalence of trematodes than nematodes. In particular, seven species and a single genus of Trematoda (Hapalotrema) and a single species and genus of Nematoda (Kathlania) were identified. Among the Digenea flukes the species with the highest prevalence of infection were Rhytidodes gelatinosus (34.6%) and Hapalotrema sp. (33.3%), while among the Nematoda they were Kathlania sp. …

Abstract Background: Stray dogs are considered potential reservoirs for zoonotic diseases. Previous helminthic surveys in Iran, have accounted for mainly species of nematodes and cestodes, and rarely digeneans. Methods: We accessed 42 car-crashed stray dogs from the Farah Abad Region in the Mazandaran Province (North Iran) between Oct 2012 and Dec 2013, to be inspected for parasites. This paper examined parasite assemblages of crucian carp (Carassius carassius) in a natural set-up of two distinctive environments inhabited by the same host species and differing in respect to composition of other fish species: ponds, where extreme conditions prevent other fish species from occurring and lakes, where crucian carp coexist with other fish species.
