A note on strongly Lie nilpotency
1991
In this note the authors studies strongly Lie nilpotent rings and proves that if a ringR is strongly Lie nilpotent thenR(2), the ideal generated by all commutators, is nilpotent.
Haar Type and Carleson Constants
2009
For a collection ℰ of dyadic intervals, a Banach space X, and p∈(1, 2], we assume the upper l p estimates where x I ∈X, and h I denotes the L ∞ normalized Haar function supported on I. We determine the minimal requirement on the size of ℰ such that these estimates imply that X is of Haar type p. The characterization is given in terms of the Carleson constant of ℰ.
*-Representations, seminorms and structure properties of normed quasi*-algebras
2008
The class of -representations of a normed quasi -algebra (X;A0) is in- vestigated, mainly for its relationship with the structure of (X;A0). The starting point of this analysis is the construction of GNS-like -representations of a quasi -algebra (X;A0) dened by invariant positive sesquilinear forms. The family of bounded invariant positive sesquilinear forms denes some seminorms (in some cases, C -seminorms) that provide useful information on the structure of (X;A0) and on the continuity properties of its -representations. 1. Introduction. A quasi -algebra is a couple (X;A0), where X is a vector space with involution , A0 is a -algebra and a vector subspace of X, and X is an A0-bimodule who…
Fixed point for cyclic weak (\psi, C)-contractions in 0-complete partial metric spaces
2013
In this paper, following (W.A. Kirk, P.S. Srinivasan, P. Veeramani, Fixed points for mappings satisfying cyclical contractive conditions, Fixed Point Theory, 4 (2003), 79-89), we give a fixed point result for cyclic weak (ψ,C)-contractions on partial metric space. A Maia type fixed point theorem for cyclic weak (ψ,C)-contractions is also given.

Incomparable Banach spaces and operator semigroups
2002
Using the notions of total incomparability and total coincomparability of Banach spaces, we define two families of operator semigroups. We show that these semigroups are minimal, in the sense that they admit a perturbative characterization. Moreover, they allow us to characterize the corresponding incomparability classes.
A class of nilpotent Lie algebras admitting a compact subgroup of automorphisms
2017
Abstract The realification of the ( 2 n + 1 ) -dimensional complex Heisenberg Lie algebra is a ( 4 n + 2 ) -dimensional real nilpotent Lie algebra with a 2-dimensional commutator ideal coinciding with the centre, and admitting the compact algebra sp ( n ) of derivations. We investigate, in general, whether a real nilpotent Lie algebra with 2-dimensional commutator ideal coinciding with the centre admits a compact Lie algebra of derivations. This also gives us the occasion to revisit a series of classic results, with the expressed aim of attracting the interest of a broader audience.
Identities of *-superalgebras and almost polynomial growth
2015
We study the growth of the codimensions of a *-superalgebra over a field of characteristic zero. We classify the ideals of identities of finite dimensional algebras whose corresponding codimensions are of almost polynomial growth. It turns out that these are the ideals of identities of two algebras with distinct involutions and gradings. Along the way, we also classify the finite dimensional simple *-superalgebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.
On the Zero-Set of Real Polynomials in Non-Separable Banach Spaces
2007
We show constructively that every homogeneous polynomial that is weakly continuous on the bounded subsets of a real Banach space whose dual is not weak ∗ separable admits a closed linear subspace whose dual is not weak ∗ -separable either where the polynomial vanishes. We also prove that the same can be said for vectorvalued polynomials. Finally, we study the validity of this result for continuous 2homogeneous polynomials.
On Composition Ideals of Multilinear Mappings and Homogeneous Polynomials
2007
Given an operator ideal I, we study the multi-ideal I ο L and the polynomial ideal I ο P). The connection with the linearizations of these mappings on projective symmetric tensor products is investigated in detail. Applications to the ideals of strictly singular and absolutely summing linear operators are obtained.
