The action of a compact Lie group on nilpotent Lie algebras of type {{n,2}}

2015

Abstract We classify finite-dimensional real nilpotent Lie algebras with 2-dimensional central commutator ideals admitting a Lie group of automorphisms isomorphic to SO 2 ⁢ ( ℝ ) ${{\mathrm{SO}}_{2}(\mathbb{R})}$ . This is the first step to extend the class of nilpotent Lie algebras 𝔥 ${{\mathfrak{h}}}$ of type { n , 2 } ${\{n,2\}}$ to solvable Lie algebras in which 𝔥 ${{\mathfrak{h}}}$ has codimension one.

Permutations of zero-sumsets in a finite vector space

2020

Abstract In this paper, we consider a finite-dimensional vector space 𝒫 {{\mathcal{P}}} over the Galois field GF ⁡ ( p ) {\operatorname{GF}(p)} , with p being an odd prime, and the family ℬ k x {{\mathcal{B}}_{k}^{x}} of all k-sets of elements of 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} summing up to a given element x. The main result of the paper is the characterization, for x = 0 {x=0} , of the permutations of 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} inducing permutations of ℬ k 0 {{\mathcal{B}}_{k}^{0}} as the invertible linear mappings of the vector space 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} if p does not divide k, and as the invertible affinities of the affine space 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} if p divides k. The same question is answered also in the case where …

Codimensions of algebras with additional structures

2022

Let A be an associative algebra endowed with an automorphism or an antiautomorphism phi of order <= 2. One associates to A, in a natural way, a numerical sequence c(n)(phi)(A), n = 1, 2, ... , called the sequence of phi-codimensions of A which is the main tool for the quantitative investigation of the polynomial identities satisfied by A. In [13] it was proved that such a sequence is eventually nondecreasing in case phi is an antiautomorphism. Here we prove that it still holds in case phi is an automorphism and present some recent results about the asymptotics of c(n)(phi)(A).

Normalized Solutions to the Fractional Schrödinger Equation with Potential

2023

AbstractThis paper is concerned with the existence of normalized solutions to a class of Schrödinger equations driven by a fractional operator with a parametric potential term. We obtain minimization of energy functional associated with that equations assuming basic conditions for the potential. Our work offers a partial extension of previous results to the non-local case.

Avances de investigación en educación matemática

2017

The Abelian Kernel of an Inverse Semigroup

2020

The problem of computing the abelian kernel of a finite semigroup was first solved by Delgado describing an algorithm that decides whether a given element of a finite semigroup S belongs to the abelian kernel. Steinberg extended the result for any variety of abelian groups with decidable membership. In this paper, we used a completely different approach to complete these results by giving an exact description of the abelian kernel of an inverse semigroup. An abelian group that gives this abelian kernel was also constructed.

Modal Consequence Relations Extending S4.3: An Application of Projective Unification

2016

We characterize all finitary consequence relations over $\mathbf{S4.3}$ , both syntactically, by exhibiting so-called (admissible) passive rules that extend the given logic, and semantically, by providing suitable strongly adequate classes of algebras. This is achieved by applying an earlier result stating that a modal logic $L$ extending $\mathbf{S4}$ has projective unification if and only if $L$ contains $\mathbf{S4.3}$ . In particular, we show that these consequence relations enjoy the strong finite model property, and are finitely based. In this way, we extend the known results by Bull and Fine, from logics, to consequence relations. We also show that the lattice of consequence relation…

Regional Disparities and Spatial Dependence of Bankruptcy in Spain

2021

Firm survival, bankruptcy, and turnaround are of great interest nowadays. Bankruptcy is the ultimate resource for a company to survive when it is affected by a severe decline. Thus, determinants of firm turnaround and survival in the context of bankruptcy are of interest to researchers, managers, and policy-makers. Prior turnaround literature has broadly studied firm-specific factors for turnaround success. However, location-specific factors remain relatively unstudied despite their increasing relevance. Thus, this paper aims to evaluate the existence of spatial dependence on the outcome of the bankruptcy procedure. Economic geography and business literature suggest that location matters an…

Existence of positive solutions for nonlinear Dirichlet problems with gradient dependence and arbitrary growth

2018

We consider a nonlinear elliptic problem driven by the Dirichlet $p$-Laplacian and a reaction term which depends also on the gradient (convection). No growth condition is imposed on the reaction term $f(z, \cdot,y)$. Using topological tools and the asymptotic analysis of a family of perturbed problems, we prove the existence of a positive smooth solution.
