This follow-up study investigated the associations of childhood learning disabilities (LDs) with adult-age anxiety, depression, and unemployment. Psychosocial problems in childhood and psychiatric diagnoses and lack of education in adolescence were studied as potential mediators, and gender and mother’s education were studied as potential moderators of these associations. Self-efficacious children are expected to be more task-focused in challenging achievement situations and consequently have better chances of overcoming learning difficulties than children who have lower self-efficacy. The present study investigates this presumption with Finnish-speaking first graders struggling with reading acquisition ( N = 285). Mērķis. Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt iespējamo saikni starp pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu vispārējās veselības traucējumiem, mutes veselību ietekmējošiem kaitīgiem paradumiem un kariesa intensitāti. Metodes. Šo šķērsgriezuma pētījumu, kas notika 2017. un 2018.gadā, apstiprināja Latvijas Universitātes Ētikas Komisija. Kopējais dalībnieku skaits bija 158, vecumā starp 2 un 7 gadiem. Rakstiska piekrišana tika saņemta no vecākiem. Bērna vecāki aizpildīja aptaujas. Klīnisko apskati veica trīs zobārsti, kuriem asistēja grupa ar studentiem. The present study examined whether learning disabilities (LD) in reading and/or math (i.e., reading disability [RD], math disability [MD], and RD+MD) co-occur with other diagnoses. The data comprised a clinical sample (n= 430) with LD identified in childhood and a sample of matched controls (n= 2,140). Their medical diagnoses (according to the International Classification of Diseases nosology) until adulthood (20–39 years) were analyzed. Student–teacher relationships are crucial for adolescents’ adjustment in the school context. The aim of the present study was to examine the role of teacher closeness in academic emotions and achievement among adolescents with and without learning difficulties during the first year in lower secondary school. Students’ learning difficulties (LDs) were identified based on tested reading and math skills. In addition, students evaluated their teacher relationships and rated academic emotions in literacy and math domains. The COVID pandemic is forcing the renewal of scientific conferences, offering opportunities to introduce technological and inclusive developments. Our analysis focuses on the implementation of inclusive practices for female and early-career researchers in a virtual scientific conference. This organization approach was applied in the XIII Spanish Optical Meeting (RNO2021), which was also characterized by avatars interacting in an online metaverse.
