TRANSIZIONE AMBIENTALE E SVILUPPO SOSTENIBILE
2021
This paper explores the issues related to the principles of eco-sustainability by proposing a case study of sustainable regeneration in Sicily, whose intervention choices were made with respect for the environment and local traditions. General guidelines: reduction of energy consumption; use of recycled and recyclable materials; improvement of thermo-hygrometric conditions. Programming is based not only on performance control, but on an idea of global sustainability based on the use of urban greening systems.

Building community spaces: Processes and actions In the City of Mercato Ballarò in Palermo
2022
The rediscovery of the cultural value of a project, the creation of new imagery in marginal places and the new aesthetics of temporality are some of the emerging issues in the city of crisis which are measured through processes of active involvement in community relations. There are many cities that have recognised urban markets as an integral part of local economies, with great benefits also at cultural and social levels. The rediscovery of the cultural value of the project, the creation of new imaginaries in marginal places and the new aesthetics of temporality are some of the emerging issues in the city of crisis in Italy that are measured through processes of active involvement of inhabitants, associations and institutions.
The Persian Glimpse
2020
The paper presents the results of a residential workshop dedicated to ephemeral architecture and urban renewal. Through theoretical lectures, planning and design exercises and a close relationship with the inhabitants inside the place to regenerate, the work-shop made it clear to the group of students coming from the Politecnico di Milano, the Academy of Fine Arts of Brescia and the University IUAV of Venice that “light” design elements can clearly transform the perception of a place by improving its liveability.
The Creative Land. Heritage and Creativity in the Neo-Anthropocene
2017
Urban creativity is a hard challenge, because it doesn’t need rules or models, but adaptive protocols applicable in different local contexts, able to mount resources, capacity building and creative environments. It challenges us to find local features that could provide good practices to be turned into methodologies or components to forge new urban and human regeneration tools, based on the cultural armature and citizens engagement. We live in a Creative Land composed by generative cities, a wide palimpsest of innovation labs, as experimented by several worldwide networks supporting what’s variously termed social enterprise, community interest companies, impact economy, organizations that a…
