In-hospital outcomes and 5-year mortality following an acute myocardial infarction in patients with a history of cancer: Results from the French regi…
2019
Summary Background Cancer and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) have important prognostic consequences. Treatment of some cancers may affect coronary artery disease, myocardial function and/or AMI management. Whether the early and long-term mortality of patients with AMI differ according to their history of cancer remains questionable. Aims To determine in-hospital outcomes and 5-year mortality following AMI according to patient history of cancer. Methods The FAST-MI registry is a nationwide French survey collecting data on characteristics, management and outcomes of 3670 consecutive patients admitted for AMI during October 2005. Results Overall, 246/3664 patients (6.7%) admitted for an AMI…
Effects of clozapine metabolites and chronic clozapine treatment on rat brain GABAA receptors
1996
Abstract Similarly to clozapine, a clozapine metabolite, N -desmethylclozapine, but not clozapine N -oxide, antagonized brain γ-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA A ) receptors at high micromolar concentrations. However, daily subcutaneous injections of clozapine (10 and 25 mg/kg) and haloperidol (0.5 mg/kg) for 14 days failed to alter the modulation by GABA of rat cerebrocortical and cerebellar benzodiazepine ([ 3 H]flunitrazepam) or convulsant ( t -[ 35 S]bicyclophosphorothionate) binding sites of the GABA A receptor. The results thus suggest that the GABA A receptor antagonism exerted by chronic in vivo clozapine treatment is weak as compared to this treatment's actions on certain monoamine …
Influence of gender on delays and early mortality in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: Insight from the first French Metaregistry, 2005–201…
2018
International audience; Background - Women show greater mortality after acute myocardial infarction. We decided to investigate whether gender affects delays and impacts in-hospital mortality in a large population. Methods and results - We performed a patient-level analysis of 7 French MI registries from different regions from January 2005 to December 2012. All patients with acute STEMI were included within 12 h from symptom onset and a first medical contact with a mobile intensive care unit an emergency department of a hospital with percutaneous coronary intervention facility. Primary study outcomes were STEMI, patient and system, delays. Secondary outcome was in-hospital mortality. 16,733 p…
Outcomes of a routine invasive strategy in elderly patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction from 2005 to 2014: results from the P…
2019
Background Elderly patients (≥75 years old) with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) represent a large subgroup of all cases. They are rarely included in randomized trials because of comorbidities and concerns about complications. Furthermore, invasive treatments are used less frequently in this patient group. The aim of this study was to analyze trends in invasive procedures and outcomes in elderly patients with NSTEMI from 2005 to 2014. Patients and methods We analyzed 68 978 elderly patients with NSTEMI enrolled in the prospective, nationwide Polish Registry of Acute Coronary Syndromes from 2005 to 2014. Results Elderly patients accounted for 34.9% of all patients wit…
Prognostic value of ST-segment resolution after rescue percutaneous coronary intervention. Data from the RICO survey
2008
Objectives: The goal of the present study was to test the impact of ST segment resolution (STR) after rescue percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on the short-term prognosis. Background: The prognostic value of STR after rescue PCI for acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remains undetermined. Methods: From the French regional database, we analyzed 168 consecutive patients with STEMI and failed lysis, defined by <50 percent STR, who underwent rescue PCI. Patients were classified into two groups according to the degree of STR from the maximal ST-elevation measured on the single worst ECG lead before lysis and after rescue PCI: the without STR group (<50% STR) vs. the with STR…
Real world safety and efficacy of the Janus Tacrolimus-Eluting stent: long-term clinical outcome and angiographic findings from the Tacrolimus-Elutin…
2009
Objectives: We sought to evaluate the safety and performance of the Janus Tacrolimus-Eluting stent (TES) in an unselected population of patients, without application of restrictive clinical or angiographic criteria. Background: Continued attention to the safety, efficacy, and deliverability of first-generation drug eluting stents has led to the development of new antiproliferative agents with alternative stent platforms and different drug carrier vehicles. Methods: The TEST (Tacrolimus Eluting STent) registry is a prospective, nonrandomized single-center registry in which 140 consecutive patients who underwent single- or multi-vessel percutaneous coronary intervention between February 2005 …
Impact of prehospital delay on mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction treated with primary angioplasty and intravenous thrombolysis.
2001
Abstract Background In patients with acute myocardial infarction treated with thrombolysis, longer times to treatment are associated with increasingly worse clinical outcome. This relation may be different for treatment with primary angioplasty. Methods We analyzed the pooled data of the German acute myocardial infarction registries Maximal Individual Therapy in Acute Myocardial Infarction (MITRA) and Myocardial Infarction Registry (MIR) to determine the influence of prehospital delays on hospital mortality rates. Primary angioplasty was performed in 1063 patients and thrombolysis in 7552 patients. Results In patients treated with thrombolysis, in-hospital time to treatment was constantly 3…
Effect of Bacteremia in Elderly Patients With Urinary Tract Infection.
2016
The clinical effect of bacteremia on outcomes in urinary tract infection (UTI) is still debated. This study aims to examine the clinical effect of bacteremia in elderly patients with UTI requiring hospital admission. This retrospective observational study recorded the clinical features, microbiology and outcomes in a Spanish cohort of patients aged ≥65 years hospitalized for UTI in whom blood cultures were performed in the emergency department. The primary outcome of the study was in-hospital mortality.Of 333 patients, with a mean age of 81.6 years, 137 (41.1%) had positive blood cultures. Escherichia coli, with 223 (66.9%) cases, was the most common microorganism isolated. Independent risk …
D-Dimer and thrombus burden in acute pulmonary embolism.
2018
Abstract Background Thrombus burden in pulmonary embolism (PE) is associated with higher D-Dimer-levels and poorer prognosis. We aimed to investigate i) the influence of right ventricular dysfunction (RVD), deep venous thrombosis (DVT), and high-risk PE-status on D-Dimer-levels and ii) effectiveness of D-Dimer to predict RVD in normotensive PE patients. Methods Overall, 161 PE patients were analyzed retrospectively, classified in 5 subgroups of thrombus burden according to clinical indications and compared regarding D-Dimer-levels. Linear regression models were computed to investigate the association between D-Dimer and the groups. In hemodynamically stable PE patients, a ROC curve was calc…
D-dimer for risk stratification in haemodynamically stable patients with acute pulmonary embolism
2015
Patients with submassive pulmonary embolism (PE) have a higher short-term mortality than those with low-risk PE. Rapid identification of submassive PE is important for adequate treatment of non-massive PE. We aimed to investigate the utility of D-dimer for the prediction of submassive PE stadium in normotensive PE patients.Normotensive PE patients were classified into submassive or low-risk PE groups. In addition to the comparison of the groups, area under the curve (AUC) and D-dimer cut-off for the prediction of submassive PE stadium, multi-variate logistic regression for association between D-dimer values above this cut-off and submassive PE stadium were also calculated. The data of 129 no…
