Global English : Varieties of English in textbooks
2009
Intercultural and global dimension of textbooks – points of consideration for language teachers

Suitable for Western Audiences: UNESCO and the Self-fulfilling Prophecy of Cinematic Cultural Diplomacy
2020
Through a reading of cinematic cultural diplomacy in the post-World War II UNESCO context, this study focuses on the potential cinema holds for speaking to the politics of difference. Traditionally seen as problematic and conflictual, this study suggests that for UNESCO, difference is not the source of war and conflict, but of peace. It provides an analysis of Orient: A Survey of Films Produced in Countries of Arab and Asian Culture, a 1959 film catalogue published by UNESCO and the British Film Institute with the aim to “stimulate the presentation of films which might give audiences in the West a fuller and more informed idea of the ways of life of Eastern peoples”. This study treats the c…
International Social Work: Professional Debates about Global and Local Practices
2020
International social work is still a work in progress and an arena with diverse definitions, interpretations, and directions. The international application of social work requires taking a multi-faceted view of the nature of social work and has implications for the international debate on values and ethics; the profession's firm commitment to the principles of human rights and social justice raises many questions about how these values may be perceived differently in relation to cultural and national contexts. The increasing mobility of social workers across national borders, as well as posing challenges in terms of cultural adaptation and sometimes language competences, offers important op…
Inversions de température dans le Jura
2018
Global Dynamics and Imbalance Effects in the Lucas-Uzawa Model: Further Results
2007
In this paper we use a new analytical approach to the Lucas-Uzawa model (Boucekkine and Ruiz Tamarit, 2007) to extend the existing results on the dynamics, and notably on the imbalance effects arising in the model. The approach does not only allow to extend the traditional analysis to any initial conditions and for all variables in level, but it also permits a more general investigation of imbalance effects.
