Taxonomic and nomenclatural novelties concerning the Valencian flora (eastern Spain), II: As a part of the taxonomical and nomenclatural update of vascular flora of the Valencian Community, ten new combinations and…
Quaternary diversification in European alpine plants: pattern and process
2004
Molecular clock approaches applied previously to European alpine plants suggest that Primula sect. Auricula , Gentiana sect. Ciminalis and Soldanella diversified at the beginning of the Quaternary or well within this period, whereas Globularia had already started diversifying in the (Late–)Tertiary. In the first part of this paper we present evidence that, in contrast to Globularia and Soldanella , the branching patterns of the molecular internal transcribed spacer phylogenies of both Primula and Gentiana are incompatible with a constant–rates birth–death model. In both of these last two taxa, speciation probably decreased through Quaternary times, perhaps because of some niche–filling pro…
Globularia nudicaulis, a new host of Cucumber mosaic virus
2006
) is a perennial, foundnaturally on European mountains at altitudes between 900 and 2000 m.In June 2004, G. nudicaulis plants, with a yellow mosaic and/or variega-tion on malformed leaves, were noted among plant species cultivated in theBotanical Garden at Bologna University, Italy. No elongated virus-likeparticles were observed in affected-leaf extracts by transmission electronmicroscopy using a leaf dip method. By applying a protein A sandwichenzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (PAS-ELISA) technique ( Edwards Csystemic symptoms were observed in Nicotiana tabacum , N. benthamiana ,N. glutinosa, N. clevelandii and Capsicum annuum, and Cucumis sativusand C. melo.
