Resum: Aquest article té per objectiu analitzar la novel·la Les mans de la deixebla d’Anna Moner (2011) com una obra a cavall entre la narració gòtica i l’ambientació històrica en el segle xviii, d’una banda, i com a exponent de la representació de la corporeïtat, d’una altra. Estudiem els mecanismes a través dels quals l’autora construeix tres personatges complexos que giren al voltant del conflicte generat per la naturalesa abjecta (Kristeva 2006) del cos de la protagonista. Some Reflections on the Gothic Optative

The verbal systems of the earliest Indo-European languages are not so congruous with one another as the nominal paradigms. The reconstruction of IE is conformably fraught with far greater difficulty, and there is plenty of room for doubt. In this paper a particular morph will be dealt with, which does not go back as such to Indo-European. The proto-language must have possessed the linguistic unit employed in Gothic to form the verbal endings that are discussed here. International audience; The postcolonial Gothic is now a mode widely covered by literary criticism, but South Africa has often been left out of investigations. This paper argues that only now that apartheid has ended can writers and critics explore how the Gothic manifests itself in South African literature. Showing possible connections between the postcolonial Gothic and recent South African fiction, it seeks to define a new category that can help define the contours of the literary field in South Africa: post-apartheid Gothic.
Re-Inscription of Female Images and Subjectivities in Margaret Atwood’s The Robber Bride

In exploring the complex female identity models that are articulated in Margaret Atwood’s The Robber Bride, this essay foregrounds Atwood’s sensitiveness to one of the major feminist issues of the early nineties: the debate over whether it is/was possible to postulate a distinctive “female specialness”. The essay's specific contention is that, in outlining the complex experiences of three Canadian friends – Tony, Roz and Charis – and of their demonic antagonist, Zenia, across three decades (from the sixties to the early nineties), Atwood questions notions of biological reductionism and, more importantly, the feminist creed of universal sisterhood4.
