Gender Diversity in STEM Disciplines: A Multiple Factor Problem.

2019

A Study on the Emigration Enablers of the Romanian Students in Theology

2018

The main purpose of this article is to describe and validate/test a set of hypothetical traits of the theology students from two important Romanian universities regarding their migration attitudes after graduation. The study is based on a consistent questionnaire survey, both in terms of architecture of variables and number of complete responses. After cleaning, processing and doing all the required derivations on the original data, statistical analysis methods have been applied. The results have brought solid arguments to validate all the hypotheses that marked the starting point of this study. They finally proved the importance of specific personal motivations and personality traits as ke…

Predictive Variables of Adolescents' Intention to Be Physically Active after Graduation. Is Gender a Conditioning Factor?

2020

The acquisition of physical activity habits during adolescence is fundamental to guarantee its adherence throughout life. However, these levels decrease during this stage, with women experimenting a more significant decrease. This paper aims to analyze if there are significant differences in the variables related to the intention to be physically active between men and women and if there is a moderating effect of gender on the variables that predict this intention. The sample is composed of 256 adolescents, aged between 16 and 19 years, 55.50% of whom are men, and 44.50% women. The results show that there are statistically significant differences (p &lt

Repeated selection : access to a higher education diploma for vocational baccalaureate holders

2021

This thesis examines the access of vocational baccalaureate holders to higher education in light of two major recent developments: the explosion in the number of vocational baccalaureate holders, on the one hand, and the continuous increase in their enrollment rate in higher education, on the other hand. Between 2000 and 2015, the combination of these two phenomena led to an almost fourfold increase in the number of vocational baccalaureates enrolled in higher education. In this research, we explain the obstacles and levers of these new educational paths through the determinants of the successive passage through three stages of selection.First, informal selection corresponds to the influenc…

Gender differences in French undergraduates' academic plans and wage expectations

2016

International audience; Gender differences in wage expectations may affect investment in human capital and increase inequalities in the labour market. Our research based on a survey of first-year students at a French university aims to focus on expectations at the beginning of the career. Our results show that anticipated earnings differ significantly between men and women. One year after graduation, we find a gender gap in pay of 16 percent. A wage decomposition method indicates that most of this effect is due to anticipation of discrimination. Ten years after graduation, anticipated discrimination is still almost as dominant in explaining the gender gap in pay. Finally, using a survey of …
