Abstract The formation of lithium-rich precipitate particles, known as δ′ phase, is responsible for the particularly desirable mechanical properties which make aluminium-lithium alloys interesting for different industrial applications. The structure and the kinetics of the phase separation process are conveniently studied by small-angle X-ray scattering, though uncertainties remain on the actual shape of the phase diagram of the system, particularly in the region of interest. Comparative analysis of acoustic emission signals generated by electrical discharges measured by the hydrophone and the wideband contact transducer

The paper presents a comparative analysis of the acoustic emission (AE) pulses and signals generated by PDs. For this purpose the measurements of the acoustic emission signals generated by PDs were taken in the multipoint-plane system using a hydrophone placed directly in the area of discharge generation, and the AE pulses using a piezoelectric contact transducer which was on a side wall of a power transformer tub. Next, time runs and amplitude density spectra were drawn. Also the descriptors describing signals in the frequency domain were determined and the time-frequency analysis was carried out, which determined spectrograms for the energy density spectrum.
Architecture of a digital PFM controller for IC implementation

This paper presents a digital controller architecture oriented to IC implementation. The classical digital pulse width modulator (D-PWM), using digital analog converter (DAC), is replaced with a Sigma-Delta (/spl Sigma//spl Delta/) modulator based on pulse frequency modulator (PFM) technique. Results of an investigation from a prototype for DC-DC converter, in terms of simulated and experimental performances, are reported, together with harmonic frequency investigation. A methodology based on inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) after microwave-assisted acid digestion was developed to determine the content of traces elements in curry samples from the Spanish market. The methodology was validated in terms of accuracy by the analysis of citrus and tomato leaf reference materials achieving comparable results with the certified values. The trace metal content of curry samples was compared with data available from previously published reports concerning Indian samples, especially in terms of heavy metal composition, in order to guarantee the quality of the commercially available spices in the European countries. High-pressure and high-temperature X-ray diffraction studies of scheelite BaWO4

International audience; We carried out high-pressure (HP) and high-temperature (HT) in situ ADXRD synchrotron measurements in barium tungstate (BaWO4 ) up to 7.5 GPa and 800 K. Coexistence of the scheelite and fergusonite structures was found beyond 7 GPa, both at room temperature and HT, suggesting a polymorphism zone in the P –T phase diagram. The experiments are complemented by thermodynamic calculations within the quasi-harmonic approximation. At ambient pressure, a volume thermal expansivity of 9.5 × 10− 6 K−1 was obtained for scheelite BaWO4 . At HP, the thermal expansivity of the fergusonite doubles that of scheelite. Abstract In this article, we propose a semi-automated method to rebuild genome ancestors of chloroplasts by taking into account gene duplication. Two methods have been used in order to achieve this work: a naked eye investigation using homemade scripts, whose results are considered as a basis of knowledge, and a dynamic programming based approach similar to Needleman-Wunsch. The latter fundamentally uses the Gestalt pattern matching method of sequence matcher to evaluate the occurrences probability of each gene in the last common ancestor of two given genomes.
