Resistance to ALS-inhibiting herbicides in common groundsel (Senecio vulgaris) : situation in franch vineyards and major field crops. Common groundsel (Senecio vulgaris) is a ubiquitous weed that is highly mobile and which seeds can germinate almost all year long. It also is the only weed species today in France that is officially acknowledged to have evolved a resistance to one same herbicide mode of action both in vineyards and major field crops. The purpose of this paper is to provide a picture of a few major aspects of this resistance: underlying mechanisms, detection, seed viability, spread and geographical extent of the resistance.

Dual mode of action of grape cane extracts against Botrytis cinerea

International audience; Crude extracts of Vitis vinifera canes represent a natural source of stilbene compounds with well characterized antifungals properties. In our trials, exogenous application of a stilbene extract (SE) obtained from grape canes on grapevine leaves reduces the necrotic lesions caused by Botrytis cinerea. The SE showed to possess a direct antifungal activity by inhibiting the mycelium growth. The activation of some grapevine defense mechanism was also investigated. Catarratto is one of the most widely cultivated grape varieties in Sicily. It is an indigenous non-aromatic white grape variety. Despite its widespread use in winemaking, knowledge of the aroma and chemical and microbiological properties of Catarratto wines is quite limited. Green and Quick Extraction of Stable Biophenol-Rich Red Extracts from Grape Processing Waste

The extraction of grape processing waste (wine pomace) via microwave-hydrodiffusion and gravity (MHG) from three different cultivars grown in Sicily (Syrah, Perricone and Nero d&amp;rsquo;Avola) rapidly affords aqueous extracts highly concentrated in valued biophenols including flavonoids, anthocyanins and phenolic acids. The method does not employ organic solvent, acid or base and does not require grinding or freeze drying of the wine pomace nor separation of the grape skins from seeds and stem. Aims: This study aimed at acquiring knowledge on the evolution of anthocyanins from grape to wine and the possibility of deducing the varietal origin of a wine from its anthocyanin profile.
