Coll Positioning systems: a two-dimensional approach

The basic elements of Coll positioning systems (n clocks broadcasting electromagnetic signals in a n-dimensional space-time) are presented in the two-dimensional case. This simplified approach allows us to explain and to analyze the properties and interest of these relativistic positioning systems. The positioning system defined in flat metric by two geodesic clocks is analyzed. The interest of the Coll systems in gravimetry is pointed out.

Positioning in a flat two-dimensional space-time

The basic theory on relativistic positioning systems in a two-dimensional space-time and the analysis of the possibility of making relativistic gravimetry with these systems have been presented elsewhere [Phys. Rev. D 73 , 084017 (2006); Phys. Rev. D 74 , 104003 (2006)]. Here we summarize these results and we outline new issues on the relativistic positioning systems in Minkowski plane. We point out that the accelerations of the emitters and of the user along their trajectories are determined by the sole knowledge of the emitter positioning data and of the acceleration of only one of the emitters and only during a light echo interval.

Pre- and post-modification of mixed cyclodextrin-calixarene co-polymers: A route towards tunability

Various pre-modified and post-modified cyclodextrin-calixarene hyper-reticulated co-polymers were synthesized, fully characterized by different techniques (FT-IR, 13C{1H} CP-MAS and LGFS solid-state NMR, thermogravimetry, porosimetry), and tested to assess their absorption abilities as nanosponges. The construction of the polymer network was accomplished exploiting the well-known CuAAC reaction between two different heptakis-6-azido-β-cyclodextrins and two different propargyloxy-calix[4]arenes. A study of spalling behaviour of PAN fibre-reinforced concrete by thermal analysis

Comparisons are made between polypropylene (PP) fibres and polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibres in order to relate the thermal properties of fibres with the respective fibre mortar behaviour under thermal exposure. Thermogravimetry (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermochromatography (ThGC) are utilized. When a cementitious fibre mortar is being heated, several physical phenomena occur in the temperature range between 100°C and 200°C. There is a significant difference in the thermal behaviour between PP and PAN fibres. PP fibres melt at 160–170°C. EIS and Ac-electrogravimetry study of PB films in KCl, NaCl, and CsCl aqueous solutions

Prussian Blue films have been studied by means of ac-electrogravimetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance in different aqueous salt solutions. Impedance data was interpreted in terms of a model based on a potential drop at the electrode/film interface and a potential drop at the film/solution interface. Quantitative results obtained by the fitting of impedance and ac-electrogravimetry allow to conclude that the main contribution to the potential drop at the film/solution interface is due to the dehydration-hydration process of cations on entering or leaving the film.

Prussian Blue (PB) films have been considerably studied for many research applications such as electrochromic material development, new material for batteries, etc. Many analytical techniques were employed for examining PB electrochemical behaviour in solution and the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) used in the alternative regime (ac electrogravimetry) appeared as an attractive in situ mass sensor due to its low cost and its high mass sensitivity. Study of Prussian Blue (PB) films by ac-electrogravimetry: influence of PB morphology on ions movement

The electrochemical response of Prussian Blue films in NaCl solutions was studied. It was proved that the stability with cycling of PB films increased when these films are covered with a Nafion® membrane. This fact allows PB films to be studied in NaCl solutions under steady state conditions by impedance spectroscopy and ac-electrogravimetry. Abstract Mass impedance spectroscopy allows the modulated response of mass of a resonant electrode to be followed at different perturbation frequencies during electrochemical impedance spectroscopy experiments (ac-electrogravimetry). However, some difficulties appear if a continuous mass change takes place foreign to the mass changes due to the ac-modulated electrochemical processes. Studies of the physicochemical and structural properties of self-assembling cationic pyridine derivatives as gene delivery agents.

New amphiphilic pyridine derivatives containing dodecyloxycarbonyl substituents at positions 3 and 5 and cationic moieties at positions 2 and 6 have been designed and synthesised. Compounds of this type can be considered as synthetic lipids. This article compares gravimetry vs. high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as quality control (QC) methods for paclitaxel, docetaxel and oxaliplatin preparations. We aimed at assessing the preparation method reliability in our hospital, evaluating compounding accuracy and estimating the influence of personnel training and standardized homogenization on compounding accuracy.
