Refitting of an eco-friendly sailing yacht: numerical prediction and experimental validation

A 4.60 m sailing yacht, made with a flax fiber composite and wood, has been refitted with the aim of hull weight reduction and performance improvement during regattas. The first objective was obtained with a lightening of internal hull reinforcements while the second one with a reduction of the maximum beam, in order to minimize the longitudinal moment of inertia. The refitting was first simulated via CAD-FEM interaction to establish the feasibility of the procedure and to verify the structural integrity. H-KPP : Hypervisor-Assisted Kernel Patch Protection

We present H-KPP, hypervisor-based protection for kernel code and data structures. H-KPP prevents the execution of unauthorized code in kernel mode. In addition, H-KPP protects certain object fields from malicious modifications. H-KPP can protect modern kernels equipped with BPF facilities and loadable kernel modules. H-KPP does not require modifying or recompiling the kernel. Unlike many other systems, H-KPP is based on a thin hypervisor and includes a novel SLAT switching mechanism, which allows H-KPP to achieve very low (≈6%) performance overhead compared to baseline Linux.

This paper aims to analyse the role of these principles in the main branches of internal audit research over the last decade. Aiming to find novel genes that contribute to the stability of the genome, we screened the Saccharomyces cerevisiae deletion collection for increased mutator phenotypes. By varying the position of single 8-oxoG in a functional gene and manipulating the nucleotide sequence surrounding the lesion, we found that the degree of transcriptional inhibition is independent of the distance from the transcription start or the localization within the transcribed or the non-transcribed DNA strand. The common DNA base modification 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanine (8-oxo-G) affects the efficiency and fidelity of transcription. We constructed plasmid substrates carrying single 8-oxo-G residues, specifically positioned in the transcribed or the non-transcribed DNA strands, to investigate their effects on the expression of an EGFP reporter gene and to explore the role of base excision repair in the mechanism of transcription inhibition.
