Intraenvironmental correlations in the ground state of a nonisolated two-state particle

1996

The existence of entanglement in the ground state of a two-level particle coupled to a bosonic environment is proved. The quantum covariances of pairs of simple dynamical variables relative to different subsystems are explicitly shown to be bounded. Physically interpretable conditions for the occurrence of weak intraenvironmental correlations are reported and discussed. The potentialities of our treatment are briefly put into evidence.

Singlet ground state magnetism: III. magnetic excitons in antiferromagnetic TbP

1981

The dispersion of the lowest magnetic excitations of the singlet ground state system TbP has been studied in the antiferromagnetic phase by inelastic neutron scattering. The magnetic exchange interaction and the magnetic and the rhombohedral molecular fields have been determined.

Magnetic excitations of the singlet ground state antiferromagnet CsFeBr3 in a magnetic field

1991

Abstract The magnetic excitations in the quasi-one-dimensional singlet ground state antiferromagnet CsFeBr3 have been studied by inelastic neutron scattering in the presence of an applied magnetic field, H‖c and H⊥c. With H‖c, the dispersion curves renormalise so that the exchange interaction has a decreasing influence with increasing field. H⊥c has little or no effect on the dispersion of the magnetic excitations.

Measurement of the Spectral Shape of the β -Decay of Xe137 to the Ground State of Cs137 in EXO-200 and Comparison with Theory

2020

We report on a comparison between the theoretically predicted and experimentally measured spectra of the first-forbidden nonunique β-decay transition ^{137}Xe(7/2^{-})→^{137}Cs(7/2^{+}). The experimental data were acquired by the EXO-200 experiment during a deployment of an AmBe neutron source. The ultralow background environment of EXO-200, together with dedicated source deployment and analysis procedures, allowed for collection of a pure sample of the decays, with an estimated signal to background ratio of more than 99 to 1 in the energy range from 1075 to 4175 keV. In addition to providing a rare and accurate measurement of the first-forbidden nonunique β-decay shape, this work constitut…

High resolution spectroscopic study ofBeΛ10

2016

Spectroscopy of a Be-10(Lambda) hypernucleus was carried out at JLab Hall C using the (e, e' K+) reaction. A new magnetic spectrometer system (SPL+ HES+ HKS), specifically designed for high resolution hypernuclear spectroscopy, was used to obtain an energy spectrum with a resolution of similar to 0.78 MeV (FWHM). The well-calibrated spectrometer system of the present experiment using p(e, e' K+)Lambda, Sigma(0) reactions allowed us to determine the energy levels; and the binding energy of the ground-state peak (mixture of 1(-) and 2(-) states) was found to be B-Lambda = 8.55 +/- 0.07(stat.) +/- 0.11(sys.) MeV. The result indicates that the ground-state energy is shallower than that of an em…

The rotational gas-phase spectrum of trans- and cis-HSSOH at 100GHz

2009

Abstract We present the first pure rotational spectra of the two most stable conformers of oxatrisulfane, trans- and cis-HSSOH, in their vibrational ground state. For both conformers a-, b-, and c-type transitions have been recorded in the range from 75 to 120 GHz using an all solid-state spectrometer. More than 200 lines have been assigned for each conformer, most of them belonging to the r Q 2 - and the r Q 3 -branch of the perpendicular spectra. The least-squares fit analysis using a semirigid rotor Hamiltonian in S-reduction yields precise values for the ground-state rotational constants A 0 = 21 145.93422 ( 66 ) , B 0 = 4479.92301 ( 21 ) , C 0 = 3828.34269 ( 21 ) for cis-HSSOH, and A 0…

Electronic, magnetic, and structural properties of the ferrimagnet Mn2CoSn

2011

The magnetic ground state of the Heusler compound Mn${}_{2}$CoSn was predicted to be nearly half-metallic ferrimagnetic with a high spin polarization by ab initio electronic structure calculations. Mn${}_{2}$CoSn was synthesized, and the magnetic behavior of the compound was studied using a superconducting quantum interference device and x-ray magnetic circular dichroism. The experimental values were found to be in fair accordance with the theoretical predictions. The electronic structure and the crystal structure of Mn${}_{2}$CoSn were characterized comprehensively using x-ray powder diffraction, $^{119}\mathrm{Sn}$ M\"ossbauer spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, and hard x-ray photo…

β decay of In133 : γ emission from neutron-unbound states in Sn133

2019

Excited states in Sn-133 were investigated through the beta decay of In-133 at the ISOLDE facility. The ISOLDE Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source (RILIS) provided isomer-selective ionization for In-133, allowing us to study separately, and in detail, the beta-decay branch of In-133 J(pi)= (9/2(+)) ground state and its J(pi) = (1/2(-)) isomer. Thanks to the large spin difference of the two beta-decaying states of In-133, it is possible to investigate separately the lower and higher spin states in the daughter, Sn-133, and thus to probe independently different single-particle and single-hole levels. We report here new gamma transitions observed in the decay of In-133, including those assign…

Quantum Spin-Tunneling:A Path Integral Approach

1995

We investigate the quantum tunneling of a large spin in a crystal field and an external magnetic field. The twofold degeneracy of the corresponding classical ground state is removed due to tunneling. The tunnel splitting ΔE o of the ground state is calculated by use of a path integral formalism. It is shown that coherent spin state path integrals do not yield a reasonable result. However a “bosonlzation” of the spin system yields excellent results in the semiclassical limit. This result follows from the coherent spin state approach from replacing the spin quantum number s by s + 1/2 which causes a renormalization of the preexponential factor of ΔE o .

Simultaneous investigation of the T=1(Jπ=0+) and T=0(Jπ=9+) β decays in Br70

2017

The $\beta$ decay of the odd-odd nucleus $^{70}$Br has been investigated with the BigRIPS and EURICA setups at the Radioactive Ion Beam Factory (RIBF) of the RIKEN Nishina Center. The $T=0$ ($J^{\pi}=9^+$) and $T=1$ ($J^{\pi}=0^+$) isomers have both been produced in in-flight fragmentation of $^{78}$Kr with ratios of 41.6(8)\% and 58.4(8)\%, respectively. A half-life of $t_{1/2}=2157^{+53}_{-49}$ ms has been measured for the $J^{\pi}=9^+$ isomer from $\gamma$-ray time decay analysis. Based on this result, we provide a new value of the half-life for the $J^{\pi}=0^+$ ground state of $^{70}$Br, $t_{1/2}=78.42\pm0.51$ ms, which is slightly more precise, and in excellent agreement, with the bes…
