Pairing energy effects in cyanide complexes of CpCrIII
1999
International audience; The steric and electronic factors responsible for the reactivity differences between CN and Cl complexes of CpCrIII were examined by DFT/B3LYP computational techniques. The energy difference between quadruplet and doublet [CpCr(CN)2(PH3)], ΔED–Q, was calculated to be 21.2 kcal mol−1 with the LanL2DZ basis set. Although the high-spin configuration is still the ground state for the cyanide complex, the energy gap is 8.7 kcal mol−1 less than that found for the corresponding chloride species. The difference between quadruplet [CpCr(CN)2(PH3)] and doublet [CpCr(CN)2(PH3)2] less free PH3, ΔECr–P, is also smaller than for the Cl system. The components of ΔECr–P for CN and C…
Antennas for the detection of radio emission pulses from cosmic-ray induced air showers at the Pierre Auger Observatory.
2012
The Pierre Auger Observatory is exploring the potential of the radio detection technique to study extensive air showers induced by ultra-high energy cosmic rays. The Auger Engineering Radio Array (AERA) addresses both technological and scientific aspects of the radio technique. A first phase of AERA has been operating since September 2010 with detector stations observing radio signals at frequencies between 30 and 80 MHz. In this paper we present comparative studies to identify and optimize the antenna design for the final configuration of AERA consisting of 160 individual radio detector stations. The transient nature of the air shower signal requires a detailed description of the antenna s…
Unconventional dihydrogen-bond interaction induced cyanide-bridged chiral nano-sized magnetic molecular wheel: synthesis, crystal structure and syste…
2019
A pair of cyanide-bridged 4d–3d heterobimetallic chiral macrocyclic enantiomeric magnetic complexes have been successfully assembled from the trans-dicyanoruthenium(III) building block [PPh4][Ru(Salen)(CN)2] (Salen = N,N-ethylenebis(salicylideneaminato)dianion) and [Mn((S,S/R,R)-Salcy)(H2O)2]ClO4 (Salcy = N,N′-(1,2-cyclohexanediylethylene)bis(salicylideneiminato)dianion) with the great help of the dihydrogen bond (DHB) interaction and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD) and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy. Single X-ray diffraction reveals that complex 1, {[Ru(Salen)(CN)2][R,R-Mn(Salcy)]}6·PPh3·6CH3CN·6CH3OH·12H2O, is a neutral dodecan…
Cloud Computing Adoption Factors and Processes for Enterprises - A Systematic Literature Review
2014
Cloud computing has received an increasing interest from enterprises since its inception. With its innovative Information Technology (IT) services delivery model, cloud computing could add technical and strategic business values to enterprises. However, it poses highly concerning, internal and external, issues. This paper presents a systematic literature review to explore cloud computing adoption processes in the context of enterprise users and the factors that affect these processes. This is achieved by reviewing 37 articles published about cloud computing adoption. Using the grounded theory approach, articles are classified into eight main categories: internal, external, evaluation, proof…
A Literature Review on Cloud Computing Adoption Issues in Enterprises
2014
Part 3: Creating Value through Applications; International audience; Cloud computing has received increasing interest from enterprises since its inception. With its innovative information technology (IT) services delivery model, cloud computing could add technical and strategic business value to enterprises. However, cloud computing poses highly concerning internal (e.g., Top management and experience) and external issues (e.g., regulations and standards). This paper presents a systematic literature review to explore the current key issues related to cloud computing adoption. This is achieved by reviewing 51 articles published about cloud computing adoption. Using the grounded theory approa…
Querytogether : Enabling entity-centric exploration in multi-device collaborative search
2018
Collaborative and co-located information access is becoming increasingly common. However, fairly little attention has been devoted to the design of ubiquitous computing approaches for spontaneous exploration of large information spaces enabling co-located collaboration. We investigate whether an entity-based user interface provides a solution to support co-located search on heterogeneous devices. We present the design and implementation of QueryTogether, a multi-device collaborative search tool through which entities such as people, documents, and keywords can be used to compose queries that can be shared to a public screen or specific users with easy touch enabled interaction. We conducted…
Intentional strategies that make co-actors more predictable: The case of signaling
2013
AbstractPickering & Garrod (P&G) explain dialogue dynamics in terms of forward modeling and prediction-by-simulation mechanisms. Their theory dissolves a strict segregation between production and comprehension processes, and it links dialogue to action-based theories of joint action. We propose that the theory can also incorporate intentional strategies that increase communicative success: for example, signaling strategies that help remaining predictable and forming common ground.

A commentary on the Special Issue “Innovations in measuring and fostering mathematical modelling competencies”
2021
This is a commentary on the ESM 2021 Special Issue on Innovations in Measuring and Fostering Mathematical Modelling Competencies. We have grouped the ten studies into three themes: competencies, fostering, and measuring. The first theme and the papers therein provide a platform to discuss the cognitivist backgrounds to the different conceptualizations of mathematical modelling competencies, based on the modelling cycle. We suggest theoretical widening through a competence continuum and enriching of the modelling cycle with overarching, analytic dimensions for creativity, tool use, metacognition, and so forth. The second theme and the papers therein showcase innovative ideas on fostering an…
Wolbachia prevalence and diversity in selected riverine predatory beetles (Bembidiini and Paederini)
2018
Despite the many studies on Wolbachia in Coleoptera, data about the prevalence of this bacterium among ground and rove beetles are missing. This study describes Wolbachia distribution and diversity in predatory beetles co-habiting the same environment - submontane river channels. Three species of Paederini (Staphylinidae) and four Bembidiini (Carabidae) were collected from six river catchments of the Carpathians. Wolbachia was absent in three species: Paederidus rubrothoracicus (Goeze), Bembidion decorum (Zenker in Panzer), Bembidion modestum (F.) - but detected in four others. Paederus limnophilus Erichson and Paederidus ruficollis F. were infected at only some sites by different strains o…
