Statistics of Urolithiasis

1976

The data of 1000 stone patients, (1) in fig.1, acauired through the questionnaire “Harnstein-Statistik” (2), see (1), were transferred to three computer cards per patient. The questionnaire comprises 147 items relevant to urolith pathogenesis. A computer program makes the correlation of these 8 parameters possible: male, female, flexible age groups, stone components, stone types, diagnoses, electrolytes, and infections. Under stone specific data (I) the distribution of the 22 stone components which were considered (see table 1) is listed according to sex, the kind of stone release, stone localisation, and various frequency distributions (4). The correlation of stone components with 6 stone …

Fractional-order theory of thermoelasticicty. I: Generalization of the Fourier equation

2018

The paper deals with the generalization of Fourier-type relations in the context of fractional-order calculus. The instantaneous temperature-flux equation of the Fourier-type diffusion is generalized, introducing a self-similar, fractal-type mass clustering at the micro scale. In this setting, the resulting conduction equation at the macro scale yields a Caputo's fractional derivative with order [0,1] of temperature gradient that generalizes the Fourier conduction equation. The order of the fractional-derivative has been related to the fractal assembly of the microstructure and some preliminary observations about the thermodynamical restrictions of the coefficients and the state functions r…

Near infrared spectroscopic study on the adsorption of methanol on silica gel

2013

Author's version of an article in the journal: Advanced Materials Research. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.4028/www.scientific.net/AMR.650.150 The silanol groups on Silica gel surface are sites for adsorption of polar molecules. Alcohols and other polar molecules are easily adsorbed by forming hydrogen bondings with OH groups on silica gel surface. A study on the adsorption of methanol on silica gel was carried out by using NIR spectroscopy in combination with ssecond derivative techniques. Four of the well characterised silica gel samples were used in this study. Each of the silica gel (0.25g) samples with different surface areas and silanol number was pressed i…

"Og da har vi jobba sammen på veien videre" : om læreres beskrivelser og fortolkninger fra deltagelse i "Ta opp uro"-samtaler

2014

Masteroppgave i psykisk helsearbeid ME504 Universitetet i Agder 2014 Background: Previous research reports on the relationship between children`s level of achievement and well-being and ability to cooperate between teachers and parents. Kristiansand municipality has conducted training including teacher`s «Taking Up Ones Worries» - method, a dialogue and network based intervention. The method aims to enhance employees skills in addressing anxiety with the parents at earliest possible date. Aim and research question: The study has a phenomenological-hermeneutic approach where the intention was to describe and interpret the participant`s experiences and attitudes towards their participation in…

Referento grupu ietekme uz Latvijas patērētāju uzvedību sociālo mediju viedokļu līderu (influenceru) kontekstā.

2019

Digitālo tehnoloģiju un sociālo tīklu ieviešanas dēļ informācijas apmaiņa sabiedrībā kļuvusi daudz intensīvāka, cilvēkiem ir plašākas iespējas izteikt savu viedokli un ietekmēt citu cilvēku uzvedību, kā rezultātā referento grupu, it īpaši sociālo mediju viedokļu līderu (influenceru), ietekme uz patērētāju palielinās. Līdz ar to Bakalaura darba mērķis ir, pamatojoties uz references grupu ietekmes teorētisko aspektu salīdzinošu izpēti, analizēt un novērtēt referento grupu, it īpaši sociālo tīklu viedokļu līderu (influenceru), ietekmes tendences uz Latvijas Y un Z paaudžu patērētāju uzvedību, piedāvājot Latvijas uzņēmumiem rekomendācijas mārketinga darbības un konkurētspējas uzlabošanai. Perceived collective continuity and ingroup identification as defence against death awareness

2008

"Perhaps unique among the animal species, humans are aware that they will ultimately die. Terror management theory (TMT) posits that investing in a social group helps people to manage paralysing anxiety stemming from death awareness. In line with this proposition, research to date has shown that when reminded of their own mortality, people increase their identification with a relevant group and defend its beliefs, values, and practices. In the reported study, we demonstrate that a mortality salience induction enhances people’s perceptions of group temporal endurance—or perceived collective continuity (PCC), as we define it. Enhanced PCC leads, in turn, to enhanced group identification. This…

The value trade-off in higher education service: A qualitative intercultural approach to students’ perceptions

2016

Purpose: Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have become a highly competitive market, where consumers (i.e. students) are highly involved in their choices, and managers need to focus on competitive edges. This paper aims to understand the factors that influence international Master students’ choice behaviour and fulfil student expectations of customer value in HEIs. Design/methodology: With qualitative information (five focus groups) collected from international students (of 12 different nationalities) of several universities in Spain, UK and China, the paper investigates the formation of customer value as a trade-off between benefits and costs. This qualitative approach aims first at asse…

Doping violates the Spirit of Sport and is thought to contradict the values which underpin this spirit. Values-based education (VBE) has been cited as a key element for creating a clean sport culture across age groups. Culturally relevant VBE requires understanding of the values that motivate athletes from different countries to practice their sport and uphold clean sport values. WADA's new International Standards for Education makes this study both needed and timely. Overall, 1,225 athletes from Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, and the UK responded to measures assessing their general values, Spirit of Sport values, and their perceived importance of “clean sport”. MaxDiff analysis identified…
