Chemical Constituents ofGynura cusimbuaAerial Parts
2007
Abstract The essential oil isolated from the aerial parts of Gynura cusimbua was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Forty-seven constituents totaling 91.92% of the oil were identified. The major constituents of the oil are myrcene (31.0%), β- phellandrene (12.43%), eugenol (6.34%), α-humulene (6.20%), dodecyl acrylate (6.09%), α-copaene (5.61%), phytol (3.21%), germacrene D (3.0%), cryptone (2.04%), 2,4-ditertbutylphenol (1.62%), α-pinene (1.33%), α-cadinene (1.26%), caryophyllene oxide (1.24%) and β-caryophyllene (1.08%).
A revision of Gynura (Asteraceae: Senecioneae)
2011
A revision of the paleotropical genus Gynura Cass. is presented. Forty-four species are recognized, of which three are described as new. These are G. daviesiae Vanijajiva & Kadereit, G. villosa Vanijajiva & Kadereit, and G. siamensis Vanijajiva & Kadereit. Gynura dissecta (F. G. Davies) Vanijajiva & Kadereit, G. annua (F. G. Davies) Vanijajiva & Kadereit, and G. aurantiaca (Bl.) DC. subsp. parviflora (F. G. Davies) Vanijajiva & Kadereit are new combinations. An identification key, descriptions, and distribution maps are provided.
Effects of Citrus Exocortis Viroid Infection on the Peroxidase/IAA-Oxidase System of Gynura aurantiaca and Lycoperszcon esculentum
1987
Summary The peroxidase/indoleacetic acid (IAA) oxidase system of plants of Gynura aurantiaca and Lycopersicon esculentum healthy and infected by citrus exocortis viroid (CEV) was studied. In these hosts, the infection induced an increase of both enzymic activities, when they were measured between 40 and 50 d post inoculation. The analysis of isozyme composition by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and specific staining of peroxidase revealed an intensification of most of the zymogram bands as well as the premature appearance of one of the isozymes in the two plants investigated. All the tomato isoperoxidases exhibited IAA-oxidase activity when measured with the oxygen electrode. These resu…
Traditionally used Thai medicinal plants: in vitro anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antioxidant activities.
2009
In order to assess traditional Thai claims about the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants and to select plants for future phytochemical research, nine plant species with anti-inflammatory uses were selected from Thai textbooks and assessed for their in vitro anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative and antioxidant activities.Nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) inhibitory effects in stably transfected HeLa cells were determined by luciferase assay, and effects on LPS-induced pro-inflammatory mediators prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1beta, and tumour necrosis factor (TNF)alpha in primary monocytes were assessed by ELISA. Cytotoxic activities were examined against HeLa cells, h…
