Does successful attainment of developmental tasks lead to happiness and success in later developmental tasks? A test of Havighurst's (1948) theses.

This study tested Havighurst's (1948) contention that successful attainment of age-specific developmental tasks leads to happiness and success in achieving subsequent tasks. A longitudinal study on 146 participants was carried out to investigate the links between developmental progression in adolescence and young adulthood and happiness, which was assessed by two indices: high self-esteem and low symptomatology. This papers aims to present the opinions of 54 kindergarten pupils from Public Kindergarten in Chrząstowice in the Opolskie province regarding how they understand and interpret the concept of happiness. The pupils were asked a number of questions regarding happiness, being happy and/or unhappy, situations when they are either happy or unhappy. The research material was further subjected to a qualitative analysis.

The integration of visual context information in facial emotion recognition in 5- to 15-year-olds.

International audience; The current study investigated the role of congruent visual context information in the recognition of facial emotional expression in 190 participants from 5 to 15 years of age. Children performed a matching task that presented pictures with different facial emotional expressions (anger, disgust, happiness, fear, and sadness) in two conditions: with and without a visual context. The results showed that emotions presented with visual context information were recognized more accurately than those presented in the absence of visual context. Differential effects of perceptions of equal, favourable and unfavourable autonomy support on educational and well-being outcomes

Abstract In this study, we examined whether high-school students experienced optimal educational and well-being outcomes when they perceived that they and their classmates received an equal, rather than unequal, and high amount of autonomy support from teachers. Abstract This chapter approaches the question of biopolitics in ancient political thought looking not at specific political techniques but at notions of the final aim of the political community.
