Metal specificity of the Ni(II) and Zn(II) binding sites of the N-terminal and G-domain of E. coli HypB

HypB is one of the chaperones required for proper nickel insertion into [NiFe]-hydrogenase. Escherichia coli HypB has two potential Ni(II) and Zn(II) binding sites—the N-terminal one and the so-called GTPase one. The metal-loaded HypB–SlyD metallochaperone complex activates nickel release from the N-terminal HypB site. In this work, we focus on the metal selectivity of the two HypB metal binding sites and show that (i) the N-terminal region binds Zn(II) and Ni(II) ions with higher affinity than the G-domain and (ii) the lower affinity G domain binds Zn(II) more effectively than Ni(II). Latent measles virus infection in Vero cells depending on a temperature-sensitive phenomenon.

A latent infection by measles virus in a line of Vero cells could be maintained only at 37 degrees C. The conditions of temperature nonpermissiveness were associated with some block in virus production and/or release and with the establishment of an autointerference phenomenon. Reduction of the incubation temperature to 33.5 degrees C induced a rather rapid transition from the latent to a lytical infection with a recue of virus. The rescued virus exhibited a restricted capacity to grow at 37 degrees C.

Positive allometry of secondary sexual traits (whereby larger individuals have disproportionally larger traits than smaller individuals) has been called one of the most pervasive and poorly understood regularities in the study of animal form and function. Its widespread occurrence is in contrast with theoretical predictions that it should evolve only under rather special circumstances. Using a combination of mathematical modeling and simulations, here we show that positive allometry is predicted to evolve under much broader conditions than previously recognized. (2001; Hydrological Processes15: 3225–3238) for rectangular straight hillslopes was extended to convergent and divergent surfaces and to concave and convex profiles. It is a mode of representation concerned with multisensory expression in film images.
