A three-coordinate iron–silylene complex stabilized by ligand–ligand dispersion forces

The structural and bonding properties of a three-coordinate N-heterocyclic silyene (NHSi) complex of the iron(II) amide [Fe{N(SiMe3)2}2] are reported. Computational studies reveal that dispersion forces between the amido SiMe3 substituents and the isopropyl substituents on the NHSi ligand significantly enhance the stability of the complex, along with Fe-to-Si π-backbonding. peerReviewed

Side‐on Coordination in Isostructural Nitrous Oxide and Carbon Dioxide Complexes of Nickel

Abstract A nickel complex incorporating an N2O ligand with a rare η2‐N,N′‐coordination mode was isolated and characterized by X‐ray crystallography, as well as by IR and solid‐state NMR spectroscopy augmented by 15N‐labeling experiments. The isoelectronic nickel CO2 complex reported for comparison features a very similar solid‐state structure. Computational studies revealed that η2‐N2O binds to nickel slightly stronger than η2‐CO2 in this case, and comparably to or slightly stronger than η2‐CO2 to transition metals in general. Giant octahedral M32 coordination cages were prepared via self-assembly of sulfonylcalix[4]arene-supported tetranuclear M(II) clusters (M = Co, Ni) with hybrid linker based on tris(dipyrrinato)cobalt(III) complexes appended with peripherical carboxylic groups. Due to intrinsic and extrinsic porosity, the obtained solid-state supramolecular architectures demonstrated good performance as adsorbents for the separation of industrially important gases mixtures. peerReviewed

Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan hybridisaation ilmiötä kolmannen sektorin organisaatiossa tapaustutkimuksen kautta. Tutkimuskohteena on Jyvässeudun Työllistämisyhdistys ry. Tutkimuksen aineisto muodostuu pääosin yhdistyksen vuosien 1993–2013 toimintakertomuksista ja yhdistyksen toimihenkilöille, työllistetyille ja jäsenille suoritetuista teemahaastatteluista. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys pohjautuu David Billisin muotoilemaan teoriaan organisaatioiden hybridisaatiosta. Herein, we report a facile synthesis of ethyl-2-(4-aminophenoxy)acetate 4 as a building synthon for novel dual hypoglycemic agents. This building template was synthesized by alkylation of 4-nitrophenol with ethyl bromo-acetate followed by selective reduction of the nitro group. This reduction methoddoes not require nascent hydrogen or any reaction complexity; it goes easily via consecutive reaction in NH4Cl/Fe to yield our target synthon as very pure crystals. This product was characterized by 1HNMR, 13CNMR, COSY, NOESY NMR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.
