Isometric maximal strength of hand grip, elbow flexion, knee extension, trunk extension and trunk flexion was studied in representative samples of 75-year-old residents of 3 Nordic localities: Glostrup in Denmark, Gothenburg in Sweden and Jyvaskyla in Finland. The study forms a part of a wider comparative research project analyzing the functional capacity and health of 75-year-olds in these towns. The strength measurements were carried out using standardized techniques and identical dynamometers. Purpose MAINZ pouch I urinary diversion provides a high-capacity, low-pressure reservoir. The use of terminal ileum can cause a decrease of vitamin B12 levels. Symptoms caused by vitamin B12 deficiency are rare, but some are irreversible, therefore annual check-ups are recommended. OBJECTIVE To assess primary tumours of the urethra in males. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed our database from 1986 to 2006 for primary tumours of the male urethra; nine patients with primary tumours of the urethra were analysed and follow-up information was obtained. RESULTS Three patients had tumours of the prostatic urethra, two of which had proliferating focal inflammation and one a low-grade, superficial urothelial cancer. All patients were treated successfully with transurethral resection.
