A weedy form of the genus Beta, i.e. Beta vulgaris ssp. vulgaris (hence ''weed beet'') frequently found in sugar beet is impossible to eliminate with herbicides because of its genetic proximity to the crop. It is presumed to be the progeny of accidental hybrids between sugar beet (ssp. vulgaris) and wild beet (ssp. maritima), or of sugar beet varieties sensitive to vernalization and sown early in years with late cold spells. Tutkimuksessani tarkastelen Frankfurtin koulukunnan kriittisen teorian edustaja Herbert Marcusea 1960-luvun lopun länsimaisen uuden vasemmiston opiskelijaradikaalien kiistel-tynä isähahmona. Hahmottelen saksalaisen kriittisen filosofian vallankumouksellisuuteen elämäkseen ja 1960-luvun lopulla opiskelijoiden liikehdintään sitoutuneen Marcusen filoso-fisesta ajattelusta ja poliittisesta toiminnasta rakentunutta poliittista figuuria kolmella erityi-sellä lukutavalla. Since 1984 the typical headless double threaded Herbert/Whipple screw is known in managing scaphoid fractures and scaphoid non-unions. We resume technical, biomechanical and histological aspects to point out advantages and disadvantages of this osteosynthesis. Our case review of 39 patients illustrate the same good results as achieved in treating scaphoid injuries, when using the Herbert/Whipple screw of a larger diameter for expanded indications other than scaphoid fractures, such as humeral- or radial-head fractures, Jones fractures and others.
Ptiliolum marginatum (Aube, 1850) (Coleoptera: Ptiliidae)– gatunek nowy dla Polski z Białowieskiego Parku Narodowego

We present the first record of Ptiliolum marginatum for Poland. The specimens have been extracted from two nests of the wood warbler Phylloscopus sibilatrix in 2020, during investigations of the invertebrate fauna inhabiting bird nests. The samples were collected in the strictly protected part of the Białowieża National Park, in eastern Poland. We provide general information on the geographical distribution of Ptiliolum marginatum in Europe, the state of knowledge of the genus Ptiliolum in Poland, and further documentation including colour photographs of dorsal and ventral habitus, and characteristic features of hind femora and spermatheca of females.
Identification of strongly correlated spin liquid in herbertsmithite

Exotic quantum spin liquid (QSL) is formed with such hypothetic particles as fermionic spinons carrying spin 1/2 and no charge. Here we calculate its thermodynamic and relaxation properties. Our calculations unveil the fundamental properties of QSL, forming strongly correlated Fermi system located at a fermion condensation quantum phase transition. These are in a good agreement with experimental data and allow us to detect the behavior of QSL as that observed in heavy fermion metals. We predict that the thermal resistivity of QSL under the application of magnetic fields at fixed temperature demonstrates a very specific behavior. Tutkimukseni tehtävänä on selvittää, onko fenomenologian ja marxismin synteesi mahdollista. Käsittelen 1930-luvun taitteen Herbert Marcusen fenomenologista marxismia esimerkkinä synteesin mahdollisuudesta. Näiden perinteiden yhdistäminen vaatii kuitenkin ensin syventymistä Marcusen ajattelun pohjana toimiviin hegeliläisen ja weberiläisen marxismin perinteisiin sekä Martin Heideggerin muotoilemaan fenomenologiaan.
