Tuntematon päihde : sotilaiden päihteiden käyttö toisen maailmansodan aikana
2017
2017
W artykule analizuje się rozwój systemu kształcenia zawodowego przyszłych nauczycieli w obrębie noosferogenezy. Uzasadniono znaczenie orientacji noosferycznej systemu kształcenia zawodowego polegającej na formowaniu świadomości noosferycznej opartej na światopoglądzie noosferycznym. Złożona i wymagająca rola zawodu nauczycielskiego wymaga specyficznych umiejętności i predyspozycji, jakie musi posiadać współczesny nauczyciel, aby móc pracować w odpowiedzialny i godny sposób
Solar radiative effects of a Saharan dust plume observed during SAMUM assuming spheroidal model particles
2011
The solar optical properties of Saharan mineral dust observed during the Saharan Mineral Dust Experiment (SAMUM) were explored based on measured size-number distributions and chemical composition. The size-resolved complex refractive index of the dust was derived with real parts of 1.51–1.55 and imaginary parts of 0.0008–0.006 at 550 nm wavelength. At this spectral range a single scattering albedo ω o and an asymmetry parameter g of about 0.8 were derived. These values were largely determined by the presence of coarse particles. Backscatter coefficients and lidar ratios calculated with Mie theory (spherical particles) were not found to be in agreement with independently measured lidar data.…
Evaluation of jaw bone changes in patients with asthma using inhaled corticosteroids with mandibular radiomorphometric indices on dental panoramic ra…
2023
Inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) are an effective drug commonly used in asthma treatment. It is known that osteoporotic changes can occur secondary to steroid usage, depending on dosage and duration. The aim of this study was to compare radiomorphometric indices and fractal dimension on panoramic images of patients with asthma using ICSs and healthy controls. A total of 66 dental panoramic radiographs (DPRs) taken from 32 patients with asthma using ICSs and 34 healthy individuals were evaluated in this retrospective study. Panoramic mandibular index inferior and superior (PMI-i,PMI-s), mandibular cortical width (MCW), gonial index (GI), antegonial index (AI), mandibular cortical index (MCI), …
Oral and dental health of Italian drug addicted in methadone treatment
2019
Objectives: Our group recorded the characteristic of oro-dental health among a group of drug addicts in recovery treatment with methadone, and it evaluated the changes related to the withdrawal therapy. Methodology: A sample of 50 drug addicts in treatment with methadone was included in this study. At the beginning of the withdrawal therapy, the authors recorded the parameters involved in the most common oral diseases. Moreover, it was evaluated how, during the rehabilitation protocol, the behavioral parameters and the xerostomia that influence the oral health changed. A medical history especially referring to drug addiction features was made. An intraoral objective exam was done for each p…
Role of volatile and contact pheromones in the mating behaviour of Bagrada hilaris (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae)
2008
Volatiles and contact pheromones involved in the mating behaviour of the Painted bug, Bagrada hilaris Burmeister (Het- eroptera: Pentatomidae), were investigated in behavioural and chemical experiments. Vertical open Y-shaped olfactometer bioassays showed that odour from males attract females but not males, while that from females did not attract either gender. Adult females were also attracted by hexane extracts of volatile compounds collected from males. In open arena bioassays, males displayed the characteristic steps of courtship behaviour in the presence of virgin females. Such courtship behaviour was displayed in the presence of females killed by freezing, but not in the presence of f…

Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors and Atherosclerosis
2011
The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) represent the family of 3 nuclear receptor isoforms-PPARα, -γ, and -δ/β, which are encoded by different genes. As lipid sensors, they are primarily involved in regulation of lipid metabolism and subsequently in inflammation and atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis considers accumulation of the cells and extracellular matrix in the vessel wall leading to the formation of atherosclerotic plaque, atherothrombosis, and other vascular complications. Besides existence of natural ligands for PPARs, their more potent synthetic ligands are fibrates and thiazolidindiones. Future investigations should now focus on the mechanisms of PPARs activation, …
Three decades of pheromonal research in Drosophila: some answers and many questions
2012
International audience; Over the last 30 years, pheromonal research in Drosophila has considerably expanded from the pioneering characterization of contact sex-pheromones in D. melanogaster adults1 right up to the recent discovery of the receptor proteins for these compounds.2,. The two sides of pheromonal communication – production and perception – have been explored using molecular, genetic, cellular, biochemical, physiological, ethological and evolutionary approaches3. Developmental and environmental effects on hydrocarbon production and the mechanisms underlying the plasticity of their perception have been also investigated3. Over the past few years, there has been a particular focus on…
