Objectives: Primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (PMNE) is a common problem in childhood and studies about the sleep habits of affected children are not conclusive. Work-family conflict (WFC) results from the incompatibility between family demands and business/workplace needs. WFC can impact parental quality with many consequences on children health. Background/aim We have noted a phenotype of early-onset retinal dystrophy with macular staphyloma but without high myopia. The aim of this study is to report the underlying genetic mutations and the subcellular localisation of the gene product in the retina. Methods Retrospective case series (2012–2015); immunohistochemical analyses of mammalian retina for in situ protein localisation. Use of decellularized tracheas for airways engineering

Background/Objective: Tracheal stenosis produces serious dyspnea. In some cases, a defective correction or timely intervention can lead to the death of the patient. The Hospital Clinico Universitario de Valencia is a reference hospital for the treatment of patients with airway problems exhibiting complex tracheal stenosis. Surgery is limited to a maximum length of 6-7 cm and it is not exempt of mortality (3-5%). Standardized staining methods: Feulgen-Rossenbeck reaction for desoxyribonucleic acid and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) procedure

A project group working under the European Confederation of Laboratory Medicine (ECLM) presents recommendations for standardized procedures for the Feulgen-Rossenbeck-Schiff and the periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) reactions on cytological and histological material. The advantages and disadvantages of such standardized procedures are presented here in a preamble. Both users and manufacturers are encouraged to give their opinions with a view to achieving consensus on these procedures and on how further work on these lines may proceed.

Bioactive Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) Complexes Containing a Tridentate Sulfathiazole-Based (ONN) Schiff Base

New Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes were synthesized with the Schiff base ligand obtained by the condensation of sulfathiazole with salicylaldehyde. Pressure and temperature dependence of the band-gap in CdTe

In this paper we report on isothermal compression measurements (up to 5 GPa and 500 K) of the optical absorption edge of 1 μm epitaxial layers of CdTe growth by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) on GaS substrates. The isothermal blue shift under pressure of the direct energy gap (Γ v 15 → Γ c 1 ) in the zinc-blende phase is about 7.1 × 10 -2 eV GPa -1 and is found to be independent of temperature within the experimental errors. The isobaric red shift in the stability range of the zinc-blende phase is about -3.76 × 10 -4 eV K -1 . Temperature Dependence of Electronic Transitions of Single-Wall Carbon Nanotubes:  Observation of an Abrupt Blueshift in Near-Infrared Absorption

Near-infrared (NIR) absorption spectra of single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT) films are studied between 10 and 293 K. The most prominent effect is the shift of bands with temperature. Some nanotubes show a redshift of transition upon increasing temperature while some show blueshift and others show no shift. The shift is interpreted to originate mainly from the effect of strain induced in the tubes because of interaction with the environment. In particular, at temperatures T = 175−225 K, for some bands, there is an abrupt large blueshift, which is interpreted to originate from interaction of the nanotubes with water.
