Recensione di La questione mediterranea

2019

Review of the book La questione mediterranea, by Ian Chambers and Marta Cariello, where the mediterranean is like a fluid archive, which is never intended as a collector of dead objects, but unlike traces, removed but never dormant, consisting of cultural practices.

2020

Following three previous papers (van Oort et al., 2016, 2017, 2020) dealing with current soil characteristics and geochemical budgets in surface horizons, as well as the impacts of fertilization in subsurface horizons in soils of INRAE’s long term bare fallow experiment (the 42-plots trial), we now present some chronological aspects of soil evolution at the soil’s surface since 1928. For that, we analyzed several series of about 15 samples from the historical sample archive for 10 representative treatments: fertilizers with acidifying effects (ammonium sulphate, ammonium phosphate), fertilizers with dispersive effects (sodium nitrate, sylvinite, and potassium chloride), superphosphate, amen…

Characterization of Self-Growing Biomaterials Made of Fungal Mycelium and Various Lignocellulose-Containing Ingredients

2022

In this study, novel blends of mycelium biocomposites (MB) were developed. Various combinations of birch sawdust and hemp shives with birch bark (BB) and wheat bran (WB) additives were inoculated with basidiomycete Trametes versicolor to produce self-growing biomaterials. MB were characterized according to mycelial biomass increment in final samples, changes in chemical composition, elemental (C, H, N) analyses, granulometry of substrates, water-related and mechanical properties, as well as mold resistance and biodegradability. The mycelial biomass in manufactured MB increased by ~100% and ~50% in hemp and sawdust substrates, respectively. The lignocellulose ingredients during fungal growth…

Syntheses of Some Biologically Active Compounds from Stilbenes Isolated from the Bark ofPicea abies

1992

From the four stilbenes 1–4 isolated from the bark of Picea abies seven compounds 5–11 were obtained by hydrogenation or permethylation. 1H-, 13C-NMR and mass spectra were used for their characterization. The antileukemic activity of each compound was preliminary tested. Some compounds were further tested for their anti-HIV activity.

Sella, A NEW NAME FOR THE GENUS Linaresia EL KADIRI, 1992 (NASSELLARIA, RADIOLARIA) PREOCCUPIED BY COPEPOD CRUSTACEANS (LAMIPPIDAE, MAXILLOPODA)

2021

The aim of this short note is to create a new name of this genus since the original name Linaresia proved to pre-exist in the paleontological literature ( Linaresia de Zulueta, 1908, Family Lamippidae, Copepod crustaceans, and Linaresia Gonzalez-Donoso, 1968, Family Gavelinellidae, Agglutinated Foraminifera). The new name created for the above mentioned radiolarians is: Sella . This name derives from an arbitrary combination of letters (International Code of Zoological Nomenclature). The type species of Sella is S. beniderkoulensis by original designation (El Kadiri, 1992).

Theoretical studies of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibition

2012

Computational methods for accurately calculating the binding affinity of a ligand for a protein play a pivotal role in rational drug design. We herein present a theoretical study of the binding of five different ligands to one of the proteins responsible for the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) cycle replication; the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT). Two types of approaches are used based on molecular dynamics (MD) simulations within hybrid QM/MM potentials: the alchemical free energy perturbation method, FEP, and the pathway method, in which the ligand is physically pulled away from the binding site, thus rendering a potential of mean force (PMF) for the binding process. Our com…
