INTRODUCTION Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by SARS-CoV2 virus is thought to be more severe in patients with prior hematological diseases. There is evidence suggesting that hematological patients are particularly vulnerable and have a higher risk of developing severe events, with higher mortality rate than general population. However, the available data are limited, and prognostic factors at admission still remain unclear. There is still some disagreement about how dyslipidemia should be treated in particular population groups. This article provides a review of indications for lipid-lowering treatment, preferably for primary prevention, in specific groups of patients: women, the elderly, and those with an HIV infection, chronic kidney disease or metabolic syndrome. Special emphasis is placed on data obtained in the JUPITER trial and in other studies of rosuvastatin.

Background Identifying determinants for histologically proven high-grade anal intraepithelial lesions (hHSIL) in HIV-positive MSM would allow better targeted screening. Methods APACHES is a prospective study of anal HPV and related-lesions in 513 HIV-positive MSM aged ≥35 in six clinics across France. At baseline, participants underwent high resolution anoscopy (HRA) with biopsy of suspicious lesions, preceded by anal swabs for liquid-based cytology, p16/Ki67 immunostaining, and HPV DNA. hHSIL diagnosis was established by histopathological review panel consensus, and determinants assessed by logistic regression. A method of ultrasound-assisted digestion followed by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) used for the determination of trace element (chromium, copper, lead, nickel, vanadium and zinc) concentrations in fly ash samples was developed. All the measurements were performed in robust plasma conditions. Ultrasound-assisted digestion procedures using digestion solutions of aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid (HF) resulted in recovery rates of over 80% for all the analyte elements.
