Design of New Polyaspartamide Copolymers for siRNA Delivery in Antiasthmatic Therapy
2020
Here, a novel protonable copolymer was realized for the production of polyplexes with a siRNA (inhibitor of STAT6 expression in asthma), with the aim of a pulmonary administration. The polycation was synthesized by derivatization of &alpha
Enhanced chain dynamics in loop-sorting-systems by means of layout optimization and a kinematic model of the polygon action
2012
Published version of an article in the journal: Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00158-011-0743-7 Poor dynamics owing to polygon action is a known concern in mechanical applications of closed articulated chains. In this paper a kinematic model of the polygon action in large chains of loop-sorting-systems is proposed. Through optimization techniques the chain dynamics is improved by minimizing the polygon action using a parametric model of the track layout as design variables. Three formulations of the kinematic polygon action are tested on an average sized planer tracks layout to find a superior model. Verificati…
Information Security Risk Assessments following Cybersecurity Breaches : The Mediating Role of Top Management Attention to Cybersecurity
2023
Information Systems (IS) research on managerial response to cybersecurity breaches has largely focused on externally oriented actions such as customer redressal and crisis response. Within the firm itself, a breach may be a symptom of systematic problems, and a narrow, siloed focus on only fixing immediate issues through technical fixes and controls might preclude other managerial actions to ensure future cybersecurity. Towards this end, Information Security Risk Assessments (ISRA) can help surface other vulnerabilities following a breach. While the role of governance in such exercises is emphasized in standards, it is undertheorized in IS research and lacks empirical evidence. We draw on t…

Humanity and Its Beneficiaries : Footing and Stance-Taking in an International Criminal Trial
2019
This article elucidates the role of metapragmatic devices like footing and stance-taking in trial hearings before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. It focuses on the case of Ahmad al Faqi al Mahdi, a Malian Islamist found guilty of the 2012 destruction of cultural heritage in Timbuktu. We examine how the prosecution and defense reflexively formulate the hearing as part of a wider text trajectory and how they align personae across participation frameworks by locating the current courtroom event into a wider dialogical field. A careful inspection of these metapragmatic devices reveals how trial participants navigate the multiple tensions facing this emergent, amalgamated fo…
Adaptive Methodology for Designing a Predictive Model of Cardiac Arrhythmia Symptoms Based on Cubic Neural Unit
2017
A cubic neural unit is a kind of a higher-order neural unit which can be used for prediction tasks among others, in the medical field. The example of the tasks includes monitoring cardiac behavior in real-time either for preemptive treatment, or for supporting a doctor to reach a more accurate diagnosis. We propose a predictive model which has been developed as an application in open source code with the aim to make it publicly accessible for research community and medical professionals and also to decrease the implementation cost. The proposed model uses sample-by-sample adaptation of the gradient descent method with error backpropagation. This paper presents an application of a cubic neur…
A political not judicial process : impeachment in the U.S.
2019
Impeachment is inherently a political process in the United States. The political nature of impeachment makes political expediency a greater factor than any legal or even moral framework applicable. Therefore, the 2020 elections plays a significant role. nonPeerReviewed
Efecto de la dosis de intervención del Programa de Apoyo Psicológico P/Materno Infantil© sobre las madres y sus bebés
2014
This paper presents an analysis of the intervention dose-effect of the Parent Child Psychological Support Program© (Cerezo 1990) a program aimed at promoting protective adaptive system in children which is offered to all new-borns in a given catchment area. The program offers support to parents during the first 18 months of the baby's life. The program dose-effect is examined regarding the parents by examining the level of distress reported by them and with babies by examining the development of attachment using the Strange Situation test of Ainsworth et al. (1978). The study is based on 342 families who made between 2 and 4 visits to the Program before being evaluation post-intervention. T…
Probabilistic Evaluation of the Adaptation Time for Structures under Seismic Loads
2016
Abstract In this paper, a probabilistic approach for the evaluation of the adaptation time for elastic perfectly plastic frames is proposed. The considered load history acting on the structure is defined as a suitable combination of quasi-statical loads and seismic actions. The proposed approach utilizes the Monte Carlo method in order to generate a suitable large number of seismic acceleration histories and for each one the related load combination is defined. Furthermore, for each load combination the related adaptation time is determined, if any, as the optimal one for which the structure is able to shakedown under the unamplified applied actions. A known generalized Ceradini's theorem i…
