Enable concurrent transmissions with beamforming for broadband wireless access in CSMA/CA-based WLANs

In CSMA/CA based wireless local networks, two stations are not allowed to transmit at the same time due to interference generated to each other, resulting in degraded throughput. Concurrent transmission, which enables simultaneous transmission of two or more stations under certain conditions, is able to overcome this problem, leading to enhanced channel utilization efficiency. In combination with microspotting, whole-blood microfluidics can provide high-throughput information on multiple platelet functions in thrombus formation. Based on assessment of the inter-and intra-subject variability in parameters of microspot-based thrombus formation, we aimed to determine the platelet factors contributing to this variation. The phenomenon of resistance to copidogrel catches the attention of a growing number of clinicians because of its frequency and the severity of adverse events related to it. The identification of patients with high platelet reactivity (HPR may help to improve their therapy applying the concept of personalized medicine, most important in the older people treated with polypharmacy. The existece of such a simple clinical method as the STIB score, that allows to predict the possible resistace to clopidogrel at the bedside without using expensive laboratory investigations, provides an attractive approach to the problem.

On the design of pervasive computing applications based on Bluetooth and a P2P concept

As an example of implementing the pervasive computing, we developed an application framework to deploy an easy, spontaneous, and infrastructureless network. We selected the Bluetooth technology with the peer-to-peer (P2P) concept to develop an experimental application which enables peers to exchange their resources. Overall network architecture and the prototype application are presented. We selected a small test-bed and simulation to evaluate the overall performance and system behaviour. We measured and present our findings in term of the duration of inquiry procedure and the throughput, according to various experimental parameters such as physical distance between nodes and their speeds.
