Abstract Teeth are some of the most resilient tissues of the human body. Because of their placement, teeth often yield intact indicators even when other metrics, such as finger prints and DNA, are missing. Forensics on dental identification is now mostly manual work which is time and resource intensive. The order Herpesvirales includes viruses that infect aquatic and terrestrial vertebrates and several aquatic invertebrates (i.e. mollusks), and share the commonality of possessing a double-stranded DNA core surrounded by an icosahedral capsid. Herpesviruses of the family Alloherpesviridae that infect fish and amphibians, including channel catfish virus and koi herpes - virus, negatively impact aquaculture. Here, we describe a novel herpesvirus infection of wild European perch from lakes in Finland. Reactivation of latent cytomegalovirus (CMV) poses a clinical problem in transiently immunocompromised recipients of hematopoietic cell (HC) transplantation (HCT) by viral histopathology that results in multiple organ manifestations. Compared to autologous HCT and to syngeneic HCT performed with identical twins as HC donor and recipient, lethal outcome of CMV infection is more frequent in allogeneic HCT with MHC/HLA or minor histocompatibility loci mismatch between donor and recipient. A higher capacity to grow under hypoxic conditions can lead to a more aggressive behavior of tumor cells. Determining tumor activity under hypoxia may identify chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) with aggressive clinical course and predict response to chemo-immunotherapy (CIT). A metabolic score was generated by determining pyruvate kinase and lactate dehydrogenase, key enzymes of glycolysis, ex vivo in primary CLL samples under normoxic and hypoxic conditions. This score was further correlated with clinical endpoints and response to CIT in 96 CLL patients. 45 patients were classified as metabolic high risk (HR), 51 as low risk (LR). Limits are calculated in the asymptotic approximation below 700 GeV and are obtained from pseudo-experiments above that.
