An assembly of organic-inorganic composites using halloysite clay nanotubes

Halloysite is natural tubular clay suitable as a component of biocompatible nanosystems with specific functionalities. The selective modification of halloysite inner/outer surfaces can be achieved by exploiting supramolecular and covalent interactions resulting in controlled colloidal stability adjusted to the solvent polarity. The functionalized halloysite nanotubes can be employed as reinforcing filler for polymers as well as carriers for the sustained release of active molecules, such as antioxidants, flame-retardants, corrosion inhibitors, biocides and drugs. Interactions entre la beta-lactoglobuline et les arômes : impact au niveau moléculaire

Interactions between β-lactoglobulin (BLG) and aroma compounds were investigated by complementary techniques for a better knowledge of binding mechanisms between proteins and aroma compounds at a molecular scale. Two binding sites have been defined for the monomeric BLG, one internal site within the central calyx, and one external site between the calyx and the α helix. In a first step, a relation between the ligand structure and its binding behaviour was established from the study of impact of a wide range of aroma compounds on the structure of native BLG. Interactions between aroma compounds and beta-lactoglobulin in the heat-induced molten globule state

The conversion of the native BLG into a molten globule state was induced by heat treatment at acidic pH. Objetivo: Evaluar el efecto del quitosán de alto peso molecular (QAPM) y del alginato de sodio (NaAL) sobre la hidrofobicidad superficial de Candida albicans y la adhesión de esta levadura a células epiteliales y fibroblastos de distinto origen. Carboranylphosphinic Acids: A New Class of Purely Inorganic Ligands

Purely inorganic carboranyl phosphinates were prepared, and the influence of the cluster on the reactivity of the phosphinate group was studied. Electron-withdrawal by the carboranyl carbon atoms, combined with space-filling efficiency and enhanced aromaticity of the cluster cage, renders the phosphorus more difficult to oxidize. This enables carboranyl phosphinates to survive harsh oxidizing conditions, a property which is uncommon in organic phosphinates.

Correlation between hydrophobicity of amino acids and retention data in reversed-phase liquid chromatography with micellar eluents

Hydrophobic character is usually expressed in terms of the partition coefficient in 1-octanol-water (log PO/W). However, measurement of this coefficient is often problematic. Retention in micellar liquid chromatography is mainly due to hydrophobic interactions and can also be used as an index of hydrophobicity.
