Brief an Garlieb H. Merkel
1799
Ms. 930a, Nr. 8, Bl. 22r-23v Böttiger, Karl August. Brief an Garlieb H. Merkel, Weimar, d[en] 13.

Hypersensitive tunable Josephson escape sensor for gigahertz astronomy
2020
Sensitive photon detection in the gigahertz band constitutes the cornerstone to study different phenomena in astronomy, such as radio burst sources, galaxy formation, cosmic microwave background, axions, comets, gigahertz-peaked spectrum radio sources and supermassive black holes. Nowadays, state of the art detectors for astrophysics are mainly based on transition edge sensors and kinetic inductance detectors. Overall, most sensible nanobolometers so far are superconducting detectors showing a noise equivalent power (NEP) as low as 2x10-20 W/Hz1/2. Yet, fast thermometry at the nanoscale was demonstrated as well with Josephson junctions through switching current measurements. In general, det…
Dynamics of correlations due to a phase noisy laser
2012
We analyze the dynamics of various kinds of correlations present between two initially entangled independent qubits, each one subject to a local phase noisy laser. We give explicit expressions of the relevant quantifiers of correlations for the general case of single-qubit unital evolution, which includes the case of a phase noisy laser. Although the light field is treated as classical, we find that this model can describe revivals of quantum correlations. Two different dynamical regimes of decay of correlations occur, a Markovian one (exponential decay) and a non-Markovian one (oscillatory decay with revivals) depending on the values of system parameters. In particular, in the non-Markovia…
An optimized Bell test in a dynamical system
2010
The best realization of a Bell test depends on parameters linked to experimental settings. We report, for a class of two-qubit states, some optimized parameters that are useful to perform an optimized Bell test in a dynamical context. The time evolution of these optimized parameters, that present finite jumps, is investigated for two qubits in separated cavities.
Exact reconstruction of thz sub-λ source features in knife-edge measurements
2013
The spatial features of a sub-wavelength terahertz source are not accessible using time-integrated knife-edge techniques due to the non-separable space-time nature of the radiated field and to systematic modifications induced by the blade itself. We show that combining knife-edge with a time resolved electro-optical sampling, the space-time coupling can be addressed and the source field profile can be exactly reconstructed.
Monte Carlo Simulation of Harmonic Generation in GaAs structures operating under large-signal Conditions
2007
By using a multiparticles Monte Carlo technique, with a self-consistently coupled one-dimensional Poisson solver, we investigate the dependence of the nonlinear carrier dynamics in GaAs n+nn+ micro e submicro-structures operating under very intense sub-terahertz signals by: (i) the frequency and the intensity of the excitation signal and (ii) the length of the n region.
Theory of the bright-state stimulated Raman adiabatic passage
2009
We describe analytically and numerically the process of population transfer by stimulated Raman adiabatic passage through a bright state when the pulses propagate in a medium. Limitations of the adiabaticity are analyzed and interpreted in terms of reshaping of the pulses. We find parameters for the pulses for which the population transfer is nearly complete over long distances.
Entangling N high-Q cavities
2004
A new conditional scheme for generating maximally entangled states of N spatially separated high-Q cavities is reported. The method is based on the passage of one atom only through all the N cavities. The unavoidable presence of fluctuations in the atom-cavity interaction times is carefully taken into account. The possibility of successfully implementing our proposal against cavity losses and atomic spontaneous decay is moreover discussed.
Digitaler Spektrumstabilisator für schnelle Analog-Digital-Konverter
1969
Abstract A versatile spectrum stabilizer is described, suitable for all ADC's with a digital parallel output and a pilot pulse at the end of the conversion. The stabilizer is especially developed for a 100 MHz ADC, but it is independent of the digitizing rate and the mode of conversion. The unit has a maximum cyclus time of 2 μsec and permits a parallel transfer rate of 500 kHz. The stabilizer corrects the effects of gain drift and is insensitive to statistical errors.
