We analysed the regional plant metacommunities of coastal habitats to test whether (1) the influence of space and climate differs between two habitats differentiated along the seashore–inland gradient, and (2) regional variation in species composition of these habitats can be ascribed to different metacommunity paradigms. The new "Vegetation map of Sicily (Italy)", recently published (Gianguzzi, Papini & Cusimano, 2015), shows also a synthetic overview of the distribution of European habitats in the territory; the study area has been extended to small islands circum-Sicilian (archipelago of the Aeolian; Aegadian, Pelagie Ustica and Pantelleria islands), for a total area of 25,703 km2. The 4th National Report ex Art. 17 of the 92/43/EEC Directive in Italy (period 2013-2018) will try to fill a number of gaps still affecting the former versions of the Italian Reports, where territorial data were still missing for large parts of the country and the assessment was mostly based on the use of the expert opinion. Similar inconsistencies also emerged in other European countries (State of nature in the EU, EEA 2015). Au sein des 173 structures relevées au cours de cette opération, deux occupations se distinguent : une première datée des débuts du second âge du Fer (La Tène ancienne) et une seconde datée du IIe s. de notre ère. La plus ancienne a été identifiée par la présence de mobilier piègé dans des trous de poteau. Si la nature domestique de cette occupation est avérée, son extension sur l'emprise diagnostiquée reste problèmatique à définir. Microgastrinae is one of the largest subfamilies of the Braconidae with about 2,000 described species worldwide. These wasps are of enormous ecological interest due to their role in controlling the caterpillar populations. This study analyses diversity and community structure within the Microgastrinae in the Artikutza Forest, located in the Peñas de Aia Natural Park, western Pyrenees, Spain. The specimens were collected in two different habitats: mixed forest and beech forest. A total of 524 specimens, belonging to nine separate genera and 27 species were captured. Do humans have a natural habitat? If yes, is it the original habitat of early hominids or the most optimal environment for today’s humans? Are these two the same thing and, if not, what does ‘optimal habitat’ mean? I examine the concept of the optimal habitat from four viewpoints: 1) paradise; 2) urban design based on environmental psychology; 3) favorite places; and 4) environment as an invitation for action. I conclude that an optimal habitat is not a collection of more or less fixed elements but an environment that can be experienced as a beneficial feedback loop based on and responding to cognitive, emotional, aesthetic, and other needs. Celem pracy było rozpoznanie wpływu zanieczyszczeń komunikacyjnych na glebę i roślinność uprawnianą przy pasie drogowym. Zanieczyszczenia te, to nie tylko spaliny, ale również pyły powstające w wyniku tarcia opon o nawierzchnie drogi, płyny wyciekające z nieszczelnych instalacji oraz śmieci wyrzucane przez kierowców w trakcie jazdy. Roślina bytująca w takim środowisku, jest narażona na liczne stresy i uszkodzenia.
