Multiple Roles of Isocyanides in Palladium-Catalyzed Imidoylative Couplings: A Mechanistic Study

2016

International audience; Kinetic, spectroscopic and computational studies examining a palladium-catalyzed imidoylative coupling highlight the dual role of isocyanides as both substrates and ligands for this class of transformations. The synthesis of secondary amides from aryl halides and water is presented as a case study. The kinetics of the oxidative addition of ArI with RNC-ligated Pd-0 species have been studied and the resulting imidoyl complex [(ArC=NR)Pd(CNR)(2)I] (Ar=4-F-C6H4, R = tBu) has been isolated and characterized by X-ray diffraction. The unprecedented ability of this RNC-ligated imidoyl-Pd complex to undergo reductive elimination at room temperature to give the amide in the p…

Synthesis of 1,2-Disubstituted Indoles from α-Aminonitriles and 2-Halobenzyl Halides

2016

The α-alkylation of deprotonated Strecker products derived from primary amines and aromatic aldehydes with 2-halobenzyl halides furnishes intermediates that can be cyclized to 1,2-disubstituted indoles in moderate to high yields (up to 94% over two steps) by microwave-assisted copper- or palladium-catalyzed intramolecular cross-coupling.

Species-Specific GC/ICP-IDMS for Trimethyllead Determinations in Biological and Environmental Samples

2005

An accurate and sensitive species-specific isotope dilution GC/ICPMS method was developed for the determination of trimethyllead (Me3Pb+) in biological and environmental samples. A trimethyllead spike was synthesized from 206Pb-enriched metallic lead by reaction of lead halide with methyllithium and subsequent formation of trimethyllead iodide. The isotopic composition of the spike solution was determined by GC/ICPMS after derivatization with tetraethylborate, and its concentration was determined by reverse isotope dilution analysis. The species-specific GC/ICP-IDMS method was validated by reference material CRM 605 (urban dust) certified for Me3Pb+. The method was also applied to determine…

Liquid Structure of Trihexyltetradecylphosphonium Chloride at Ambient Temperature: An X-ray Scattering and Simulation Study

2009

We report on an experimental and simulation study done on a representative room temperature ionic liquid, namely tetradecyltrihexylphosphonium chloride, at ambient conditions. The study was conducted using small and wide angle X-ray scattering and molecular dynamics simulations. Both approaches converge in indicating that this material is characterized by the existence of strong P-Cl interactions (with characteristic distances between 3.5 and 5.0 Å) and by the occurrence of nanoscale segregation, despite the symmetric nature of the cation and similarly to other room temperature ionic liquids. A good agreement is found between the structure factor and pair correlation functions obtained from…

Energy transfer from colour centres to the dopant in alkali halides

1997

Abstract Energy transfer from F centres to the dopant ions in photostimulated processes is examined. It was found that in alkali halide systems the radiation defects are disposed in near vicinity of the dopants. Recombination of defects also takes place to a limited extent near the dopant with a fast and high-yield energy transfer to the latter. Role of unrelaxed H centres in the formation of donor-acceptor pairs is discussed. Some special exciton energy transfer mechanisms are analysed as well.

Heterovalent BiIII/PbII ionic substitution in one-dimensional trimethylsulfoxonium halide pseudo-perovskites (X = I, Br)

2021

We report on the synthesis and characterization of novel lead and bismuth hybrid (organic-inorganic) iodide and bromide pseudo-perovskites (ABX3) containing the trimethylsulfoxonium cation (CH3)3SO+ (TMSO) in the A site, Pb/Bi in the B site, and Br or I as X anions. All of these compounds are isomorphic and crystallize in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. Lead-based pseudo-perovskites consist of one-dimensional (1D) chains of face-sharing [PbX6] octahedra, while in the bismuth-based ones, the chains of [BiX6] are interrupted, with one vacancy every third site, leading to a zero-dimensional (0D) local structure based on separated [Bi2I9]3- dimers. Five solid solutions for the iodide with di…

Recent advances in synthesis, surface chemistry of cesium lead-free halide perovskite nanocrystals and their potential applications

2020

Abstract Cesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have emerged as a key material for optoelectronic applications owing to their outstanding optical properties and easy synthesis in solution. Nowadays, the scientific community is facing a daring challenge toward the synthesis of lead-free perovskite NCs with high stability and excellent optical properties for the fabrication of optoelectronic devices with enhanced performance. In this sense, cesium lead-free halide perovskites (CsLFHPs) are demonstrated as extremely less susceptible toward oxygen and moisture and suitable candidates for long-term device applications. Thus, synthesis and identification of CsLFHP NCs essentially need u…

Hybrid Vapor-Solution Sequentially Deposited Mixed-Halide Perovskite Solar Cells

2020

The recent sky-rocketing performance of perovskite solar cells has triggered a strong interest in further upgrading the fabrication techniques to meet the scalability requirements of the photovoltaic industry. The integration of vapor-deposition into the solution process in a sequential fashion can boost the uniformity and reproducibility of the perovskite solar cells. Besides, mixed-halide perovskites have exhibited outstanding crystallinity as well as higher stability compared with iodide-only perovskite. An extensive study was carried out to identify a reproducible process leading to highly crystalline perovskite films that when integrated into solar cells exhibited high power conversion…

Pulsed Laser Deposition of Cs 2 AgBiBr 6 : from Mechanochemically Synthesized Powders to Dry, Single-Step Deposition

2021

Cs2AgBiBr6 has been proposed as a promising lead-free and stable double perovskite alternative to hybrid and lead-based perovskites. However, the low solubility of precursors during wet synthesis, or the distinct volatility of components during evaporation, results in complex multistep synthesis approaches, hampering the widespread employment of Cs2AgBiBr6 films. Here, we present pulsed laser deposition of Cs2AgBiBr6 films as a dry, single-step and single-source deposition approach for high-quality film formation. Cs2AgBiBr6 powders were prepared by mechanochemical synthesis and pressed into a solid target maintaining phase purity. Controlled laser ablation of the double perovskite target i…
