A privacy enhanced device access protocol for an IoT context

In this paper, we present the case for a device authentication protocol that authenticates a device/service class rather than an individual device. The devices in question are providing services available to the public. The proposed protocol is an online protocol, and it uses a pseudo-random temporary identity scheme to provide user privacy. This allows the Internet-of-Things device to have full assurance of the user, with respect to the request service, while permitting the user to remain anonymous with respect to the device. The user can then enjoy identity and location privacy in addition to untraceability with respect to device access. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Depicting signs and different text genres : Preliminary observations in the corpus of Finnish sign language

In this article we first discuss the different kinds of signs occurring in sign languages and then concentrate on depicting signs, especially on their classification in Finnish Sign Language. Then we briefly describe the corpora of Finland's sign languages (CFINSL). The actual study concerns the occurrences of depicting signs in CFINSL in different text genres, introductions, narratives and free discussions. Depicting signs occurred most frequently in narratives, second most frequently in discussions and least frequently in introductions. A TDMA-Based MAC Protocol Supporting Cooperative Communications in Wireless Mesh Networks

This paper proposes a TDMA-based medium access control protocol which enables cooperative communications in multi-hop wireless mesh networks. According to the proposed scheme, each router at the two-hop neighbourhood of each other is allocated to a specific time slot for accommodating either direct or cooperative transmissions in a coordinated manner, controlled by mini-slots which are part of the time slot. Mutual entity authentication for LTE

In this paper we outline the Authentication and Key Agreement protocol (EPS-AKA) found in Long-Term Evolution (LTE) systems. This architecture is the 3GPP version of a 4G access security architecture. The LTE security architecture is a mature evolved architecture, with both strengths and weaknesses. In this paper we propose an amendment to the EPS-AKA protocol to make it a full mutual (online) entity authentication protocol. We also analyze the proposal, highlighting both the improvements and the drawbacks of the new AKA protocol.

Individual Creativity and Career Choices of Pre-teens in the Context of a Math-Art Learning Event

A sample of 392 students (aged 12-13 years, M± SD: 12. 52% girls) completed a learning module integrating informal hands-on mathematics and arts activity (extending STEM to STEAM). Within a 140 minute workshop period participants worked with commercially available ‘4Dframe’ Math and STEAM learning toolkits to design and create original, personal and individual geometrical structures. Two science pedagogues acted as tutors supervising the process and intervened only when needed. This study introduces the adoption of a novel open prototyping framework in the context of mechatronics education, employing low-cost commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and tools for the motion control module. The goal of this study is to propose a novel structure for the motion control module in the engineering mechatronics curriculum. The objective is to foster a new teaching method.
