An MDE Approach for Rapid Prototyping and Implementation of Dynamic Reconfigurable Systems

2015

This article presents a co-design methodology based on RecoMARTE, an extension to the well-known UML MARTE profile, which is used for the specification and automatic generation of Dynamic and Partially Reconfigurable Systems-on-Chip (DRSoC). This endeavor is part of a larger framework in which Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) techniques are extensively used for modeling and via model transformations, generating executable models, which are exploited by implementation tools to create reconfigurable systems. More specifically, the methodological aspects presented in this article are concerned with expediting the conception and implementation of the hardware platform and the integration of corre…

Gatherer: an environmental monitoring application based on IPv6 using wireless sensor networks

2013

In this paper, we present an environmental monitoring application based on IPv6 using wireless sensor networks. We show the guidelines to connect this network to internet using the 6LowPAN standard with a real prototype in the evolution of the Internet of Things. We assign a unique IPv6 address to the different nodes motes of the network. Gatherer is based on TinyOS using IPv6 and UDP protocols and allows the data gathering of temperature and relative humidity from the different motes, requesting specific data from individual motes when required, increasing the accuracy of the measures. We compare the performance of our IPv6-based proposed application against others and show the benefits of…

Intrinsic Hardy–Orlicz spaces of conformal mappings

2014

We define a new type of Hardy-Orlicz spaces of conformal mappings on the unit disk where in place of the value |f(x)| we consider the intrinsic path distance between f(x) and f(0) in the image domain. We show that if the Orlicz function is doubling then these two spaces are actually the same, and we give an example when the intrinsic Hardy-Orlicz space is strictly smaller.

Hardware/Software Implementation of Image Processing Systems Based on ARM Processor

2020

International audience; In this paper we present a hardware/software platform for real-time image processing. We start with the creation of the hardware part based on the ARM processor (PS) with various drivers (PL) for reading, recording and displaying images. Using the SDK tool (Software Development Kit), we add software parts for the realization of some basic image processing algorithms. We use the Xilinx-VIVADO2016 tool for the proposed system design and we use the rapid development board (Xilinx-ZedBoard) for practical implementations. To realize the principle of codesign, we add hardware IPs (RTL level) for the implementation of the same image processing algorithms. To avoid the detai…

<title>Achieving high performances at lower cost for real-time image rotation by using dynamic reconfiguration</title>

2001

FPGA components are widely used today to perform various algorithms (digital filtering) in real time. The emergence of Dynamically Reconfigurable (DR) FPGAs made it possible to reduce the number of necessary resources to carry out an image processing application (tasks chain). We present in this article an image processing application (image rotation) that exploits the FPGA's dynamic reconfiguration feature. A comparison is undertaken between the dynamic and static reconfiguration by using two criteria, cost and performance criteria. For the sake of testing the validity of our approach in terms of Algorithm and Architecture Adequacy , we realized an AT40K40 based board ARDOISE.

Improving RF Fingerprinting Methods by Means of D2D Communication Protocol

2019

Radio Frequency (RF) fingerprinting is widely applied for indoor positioning due to the existing Wi-Fi infrastructure present in most indoor spaces (home, work, leisure, among others) and the widespread usage of smartphones everywhere. It corresponds to a simple idea, the signal signature in a location tends to be stable over the time. Therefore, with the signals received from multiple APs, a unique fingerprint can be created. However, the Wi-Fi signal is affected by many factors which degrade the positioning error range to around a few meters. This paper introduces a collaborative method based on device-to-device (D2D) communication to improve the positioning accuracy using only fingerprin…

Chairs' welcome message

2004

In this paper we present techniques for comparison between behavioral level and register transfer level (RTL) design descriptions by mapping the designs into virtual controllers and virtual datapaths. We also discuss about how the equivalence between behavioral level and RTL designs can be defined precisely using the proposed "attribute statements" in an interactive fashion. Implementation issues as well as considerations on real life industrial design examples are presented as well.
