Lattice dynamics study of scheelite tungstates under high pressure I.BaWO4

2006

Room-temperature Raman scattering has been measured in lead tungstate up to 17 GPa. We report the pressure dependence of all the Raman modes of the tetragonal scheelite phase PbWO4-I or stolzite, space group I41 /a, which is stable at ambient conditions. Upon compression the Raman spectrum undergoes significant changes around 6.2 GPa due to the onset of a partial structural phase transition to the monoclinic PbWO4-III phase space group P21 /n. Further changes in the spectrum occur at 7.9 GPa, related to a scheelite-to-fergusonite transition. First-principles study of elastic and thermal properties of scheelite-type molybdates and tungstates

Abstract First-principles calculations are carried out to study the physical properties of scheelite-type AMoO4 molybdates and AWO4 tungstates (A = Ca, Sr, Ba, and Pb). We consider two flavors for the exchange-correlation functional, the local-density approximation (LDA) and the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The second-order elastic constants were determined, and we found that c11 is larger than c33 for the eight investigated compounds. This fact is consistent with the well-known anisotropic compressibility of scheelite-type molybdates and tungstates. Ab initio study of the mechanical and electronic properties of scheelite-type XWO4(X = Ca, Sr, Ba) compounds

The structural, mechanical, and electronic properties of scheelite-type CaWO4, SrWO4, and BaWO4 have been investigated using density-functional theory (DFT) within the generalized-gradient approximation (GGA). In particular, we have studied the effect of pressure in the crystal structure, elastic constants [Formula: see text], elastic moduli ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]), and elastic anisotropy. In old age, the onset of disabilities (physical, cognitive) can lead older adults to have difficulty doing certain tasks of daily life, particularly those related to alimentation (shopping, meal preparation). [EN] Two novel naphthalene-sulfonyl-triazole ligands, 5-amino-N1-(naphthalen-3-ylsulfony1)-1,2,4-triazole (anstrz) and 3,5-diamino-N1-(naphthalen-3-ylsulfony1)-1,2,4-triazole (danstrz), purposely designed to interact with DNA, have been prepared for the first time and then fully characterized by H-1, C-13 NMR and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. A New Combinatorial Approach to Sequence Comparison

In this paper we introduce a new alignment-free method for comparing sequences which is combinatorial by nature and does not use any compressor nor any information-theoretic notion. Such a method is based on an extension of the Burrows-Wheeler Transform, a transformation widely used in the context of Data Compression. The new extended transformation takes as input a multiset of sequences and produces as output a string obtained by a suitable rearrangement of the characters of all the input sequences. Effects of moderate vs. high iso-inertial loads on power, velocity, work and hamstring contractile function after flywheel resistance exercise.

Flywheel iso-inertial training has been shown to positively affect muscular strength and sports performance (e.g. agility). However, implementing such eccentrically-biased training during a microcycle needs to be carefully planned due to its purported effects on the neuromuscular system that can last for hours/days post-exercise. This study aimed at using tensiomyography to verify the effects of different inertias during the hip extension exercise on the contractile function of biceps femoris and semitendinosus muscles of the dominant leg for up to 72 hours post-exercise. This paper proposes a sensorless technique for an induction machine Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) based on a non-linear observer integrated with a total least-squares speed estimator taking into consideration the IM (Induction Machine) saturation effects.
