No invasive methodology to produce a probiotic low humid apple snack with potential effect against Helicobacter pylori

2012

Abstract A probiotic low humid apple snack with potential effect against the infection caused by Helicobacter pylori has been developed from apple (cv. Granny Smith) and mandarin juice with a high microbial content of Lactobacillus salivarius spp . salivarius , by vacuum impregnation and hot air drying techniques. The moisture content reached in the final product (0.144 ± 0.012  g water · g sample - 1 ) ensured stability, and although the drying process affected the microbial content, the concentration in the final product (9.486 ± 0.013) × 10 7  CFU  g dry sample - 1 ) was sufficient to confirm that with this procedure it is possible to obtain a stable probiotic fruit with a low moisture c…

Ģenētisko faktoru asociācija ar Helicobacter pylori seroloģisko prevalenci Latvijas populācijā

2015

Helicobacter pylori gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase and vacuolating cytotoxin promote gastric persistence and immune tolerance

2013

Infection with the gastric bacterial pathogen Helicobacter pylori is typically contracted in early childhood and often persists for decades. The immunomodulatory properties of H. pylori that allow it to colonize humans persistently are believed to also account for H. pylori ’s protective effects against allergic and chronic inflammatory diseases. H. pylori infection efficiently reprograms dendritic cells (DCs) toward a tolerogenic phenotype and induces regulatory T cells (Tregs) with highly suppressive activity in models of allergen-induced asthma. We show here that two H. pylori virulence determinants, the γ-glutamyl transpeptidase GGT and the vacuolating cytotoxin VacA, contribute critic…

258 Helicobacter Pylori Infection in Allergic Children

2010

Background and aims: Studies have suggested that Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) infection could be considered as a protective factor against development of allergic illnesses. The goal of our study was to compare the prevalence of H. pylori infection in allergic patients and children without allergy. Methods: The total patient sample consisted of 147 children aged 1-10 yrs (mean age 5.2): 58 children had allergy diagnosis and 89 were healthy children or children with minor health problems. Parents were asked to bring a faecal samples of the child and to fill out a questionnaire (demographic data, socio-economical factors). Presence of active H. pylori infection was detected by stool antigen…

Comparison of the impact of Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment with bismuth and non-bismuth quadruple regimens on the gut microbiota

2019

Background: Helicobacter pylori eradication requires a combination of antibiotics. The short and long-term effect of different H. pylori eradication regimens on the gut microbiota has received little attention. Aims: To evaluate and compare the impact of the two most frequently recommended first-line H. pylori eradication regimens — bismuth and non-bismuth quadruple regimens — on the gut microbiota. Patients and Methods: Two 14-day quadruple treatments were evaluated and compared: bismuth-based quadruple therapy (proton pump inhibitor, bismuth, tetracycline, and metronidazole) and non-bismuth quadruple “concomitant” therapy (proton pump inhibitor, amoxicillin, clarithromycin and metronidazo…

Data from: The role of morbidly obesity in the promotion of metabolic disruptions and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis by Helicobacter Pylori

2017

Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection has been associated to an increased rate of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and liver disease through its effect on insulin resistance and systemic inflammation. However, results are inconstant and no studies exist in morbidly obese patients, in which both insulin resistance and inflammation coexist. Material and Methods: Cross-sectional study to evaluate the relationship between HP infection and alterations in carbohydrate metabolism, lipid profile, inflammation markers, and liver disease in patients awaiting for bariatric surgery. HP infection was histologically assessed in gastric antrum biopsy from 416 subjects. Liver biopsy was also available in 93 subjects. Re…
