This research offers a French narrative transportation scale measuring the experience of transmedia devices in the arts and cultural field. First, based on a literature review of the definition and measure of narrative transportation, a new scale is presented and defended. Second, a qualitative study is conducted. The dimensions of narrative transportation are confirmed and items are generated to measure it. Results from factorial analysis leading to a reliable and valid scale of narrative transportation lived by the cultural consumer through the use of a transmedia device are presented.

This dissertation consists in a study of verbal exchanges in nonsense literature, from the last quarter of the nineteenth century and one of the two fathers of the genre, Lewis Carroll, to the last quarter of the twentieth century and his glorious heirs, the Monty Python. The corpus is taken from the whole of English-speaking nonsense literature, be it English (Lewis Carroll, the Monty Python, N.F. Simpson), Canadian (Stephen Leacock), or American (Robert Benchley, Donald Ogden Stewart, Joseph Heller and the Marx Brothers). Only two treatment modalities–pneumatic dilation and Heller myotomy–promise long-term relief from dysphagia and regurgitation in patients with achalasia. The objective of this study was to determine whether both options differ in their effects on esophageal function, morphology, and improvement in symptoms. Impact of Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Spectrum of Current Achalasia Treatment Options

Minimally invasive Heller myotomy has evolved the “gold standard” procedure for achalasia in the spectrum of current treatment options. The laparoscopic technique has proved superior to the thoracoscopic approach due to improved visualization of the esophagogastric junction. Operative controversies most recently include the length of the myotomy, especially of its fundic part, with respect to the balance between postoperative persistent dysphagia and development of gastroesophageal reflux, as well as the type of the added antireflux procedure. Perioperative mortality should approach 0%, and favorable long-term results can be achieved in > 90%.

Among the pages of an off-print of Franz Cumont preserved at the Academia Belgica, an unpublished letter by Paul Perdrizet (1870-1937) has recently been discovered. Paul Perdrizet was a Hellenist, an archaeologist and the author of a number of publications relative to Greece, Anatolia, the Near East and to Egypt under Hellenic influence. In that letter Perdrizet airs fierce criticisms against Egyptian Hellenism in the Lagid era. The analysis of that document and of the intellectual context wherein it takes place provides an opportunity to ponder the perception Franz Cumont had of the land of the Pharaos and his way of interpreting the encounter between Hellenic culture and Egyptian culture …
