A note on normalization schemes: The case of generalized forecast error variance decompositions

The aim of this paper is to propose new normalization schemes for the values obtained from the generalized forecast error variance decomposition, in order to obtain more reliable net spillover measures. We provide a review of various matrix normalization schemes used in different application domains. The paper is concerned with space–time IgA approximations to parabolic initial–boundary value problems. We deduce guaranteed and fully computable error bounds adapted to special features of such type of approximations and investigate their efficiency. The derivation of error estimates is based on the analysis of the corresponding integral identity and exploits purely functional arguments in the maximal parabolic regularity setting. The estimates are valid for any approximation from the admissible (energy) class and do not contain mesh-dependent constants. Functional Type Error Control for Stabilised Space-Time IgA Approximations to Parabolic Problems

The paper is concerned with reliable space-time IgA schemes for parabolic initial-boundary value problems. We deduce a posteriori error estimates and investigate their applicability to space-time IgA approximations. Since the derivation is based on purely functional arguments, the estimates do not contain mesh dependent constants and are valid for any approximation from the admissible (energy) class. In particular, they imply estimates for discrete norms associated with stabilised space-time IgA approximations. ADI schemes for valuing European options under the Bates model

This paper is concerned with the adaptation of alternating direction implicit (ADI) time discretization schemes for the numerical solution of partial integro-differential equations (PIDEs) with application to the Bates model in finance. Three different adaptations are formulated and their (von Neumann) stability is analyzed. Ample numerical experiments are provided for the Bates PIDE, illustrating the actual stability and convergence behaviour of the three adaptations. peerReviewed

Computing Subdivision Surface Intersection

Computer surface intersections is fundamental problem in geometric modeling. Any Boolean operation can be seen as an intersection calculation followed by a selection of parts necessary for building the surface of the resulting object. This paper deals with the computing of intersection curveson subdivision surfaces (surfaces generated by the Loop scheme). We present three variants of our algorithm. The first variant calculates this intersection after classification of the object faces into intersecting and non-intersecting pairs of faces. the second variant is based on 1-neighborhood of the intersecting faces. The third variant uses the concept of bipartite graph.
