Cyclocarbonylation reactions of allylphenols and allylnaphthols catalyzed by Pd/C- 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphine)butane

Palladium/activated carbon (Pd/C) in the presence of 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)butane is an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for cyclocarbonylation reactions of 2-allyl phenols affording five-, six-, and seven-membered ring lactones. Various examples of cyclocarbonylation are reported and the regioselectivity is compared with the homogeneous system. Both commercial Pd/C and Pd/C prepared from activated carbons obtained from vegetable and polymeric wastes are investigated.

Quantum Random Walks – New Method for Designing Quantum Algorithms

Quantum walks are quantum counterparts of random walks. In the last 5 years, they have become one of main methods of designing quantum algorithms. Quantum walk based algorithms include element distinctness, spatial search, quantum speedup of Markov chains, evaluation of Boolean formulas and search on "glued trees" graph. In this talk, I will describe the quantum walk method for designing search algorithms and show several of its applications.

Online Scheduling of Task Graphs on Heterogeneous Platforms

Modern computing platforms commonly include accelerators. We target the problem of scheduling applications modeled as task graphs on hybrid platforms made of two types of resources, such as CPUs and GPUs. We consider that task graphs are uncovered dynamically, and that the scheduler has information only on the available tasks, i.e., tasks whose predecessors have all been completed. Each task can be processed by either a CPU or a GPU, and the corresponding processing times are known. Copolymerization of VDF and HFP in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide: A Robust Approach for Modeling Precipitation and Dispersion Kinetics

A kinetic model is developed for the heterogeneous free-radical copolymerization of vinylidene fluoride and hexafluoropropylene in supercritical CO 2. The model accounts for polymerization in both the dispersed (polymer-rich) phase and in the continuous (polymer-free) supercritical phase, for radical interphase transport, diffusion limitations, and chain-length-dependent termination in the polymer-rich phase. A parameter evaluation strategy is developed and detailed to estimate most of the kinetic parameters a priori while minimizing their evaluation by direct fitting. A hybrid catalyst, Pd@Hal-pDA-NPC, with the utility for promoting both C–C coupling reactions (Sonogashira, Heck and Suzuki reactions) and hydrogenation of nitrocompounds is prepared through two main steps. First, Pd(0) nanoparticles was immobilized on the poly-dopamine decorated halloysite nanotubes (Hal-pDA) and then Pd@Hal-pDA was hybridized with the layers of a novel multi-N-doped porous carbon monolayer derived from 4,4′,4″-((1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tris(azanediyl))tribenzonitrile. Do firms share the same functional form of their growth rate distribution? A statistical test

We introduce a new statistical test of the hypothesis that a balanced panel of firms have the same growth rate distribution or, more generally, that they share the same functional form of growth rate distribution. We applied the test to European Union and US publicly quoted manufacturing firms data, considering functional forms belonging to the Subbotin family of distributions. While our hypotheses are rejected for the vast majority of sets at the sector level, we cannot rejected them at the subsector level, indicating that homogenous panels of firms could be described by a common functional form of growth rate distribution.

Abstract This paper examines the distributional effects of international trade in a general equilibrium model with heterogeneous agents and a welfare state redistributing income. The redistribution scheme is financed by a progressive income tax and gives the same absolute transfer to all individuals. Ceteris paribus, international trade leads to an increase in income per capita but also to higher income inequality on two fronts. Inter-group inequality between managers and workers increases, and intra-group inequality within the group of managers goes up as well. KGaA, Weinheim HCl in solution accepts electron density from Au NPs and partially reduces at room temperature, as occurs with other simple diatomic molecules, such as O2 and H2. The activation can be run catalytically in the presence of alkynes to give exclusively E-vinyl chlorides, after the regio- and stereoselective transfer of HCl. Based also on this method, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) can be produced in a milder and greener way than current industrial processes.
